ROME resident Marco Di Cosmo (@scioltz) has highlighted three best bets from Serie A for us this weekend. Tasty!

Sampdoria v Genoa | Saturday 19.45 | BT Sport 1

Genoa are in stunning form at the moment. Having held Fiorentina in Florence they’ve gone on to beat Lazio in Rome and literally dismantled Verona last time out, scoring five goals!

The young French talent M'Baye Niang seems to have finally found his best form, scoring a hat-trick in that Verona victory, while the Argentinian Diego Perotti is showing what a quality player he is, if he can stay fit.

The Derby Della Lanterna is usually a tricky match, but due to the fact that the home ground effect is lowered by the teams sharing the same stadium, I often like to side with the underdogs. So, since Sampdoria will play this match ‘at home', I will choose to lay them at good prices.

The Blucerchiati have lost their way of late and the loss of star striker Manolo Gabbiadini has hit them hard; Samuel Eto'o, his replacement, has yet to shine. I am happy to lay Sampdoria, expecting a tight match played at a high intensity in Genoa and so Coral’s 8/13 on the ‘away’ side in the Double Chance catching my eye.

Milan v Cesena | Sunday 14.00

Cesena were absolutely brilliant last Sunday against Juventus. They scored two goals against the best defence in Serie A and managed to recover from 2-1 down to pinch a point having taken an early lead. I still think they will be relegated as they started the season so poorly, but slowly they are showing signs of improvement under new coach Mimmo Di Carlo.

We cannot say the same about AC Milan, who are clearly regressing from the promising start to their season. Filippo Inzaghi is looking unable to lead the group and he still has a lot to learn in term of tactics and match preparation. Empoli were absolutely dominant last Sunday in San Siro, and their coach Maurizio Sarri has showed why he should be praised as one of the best and most underrated coaches in the whole league.

I do think Milan will try to win the match, and I am expecting their dodgy defence to leak at least one goal against a Cesena side who will be desperate to get some points. Back Cesena simply to score Over 0.5 Goals at a lovely 21/20 with Boylesports.

Hellas Verona v Roma | Sunday 14.00 | ESPN

This is a match between two teams in horrid form. Verona are struggling to come close to last season’s heights and are now just four points above the relegation zone.

Yes, they’ve lost a batch of talented players but their defensive problems remain and they now hold the dubious record of possessing the league’s worst backline.

Roma aren’t faring much better. Apart from poor Parma, all their most recent opponents and scored against the capital club and I’m expecting Luca Toni and co to have some joy on Sunday afternoon.

I wouldn’t like to pick a winner here but I will happily get involved with a goals-based bet considering the awful pair of defences on show. Over 2.5 Goals represents great value at 20/21 (BetVictor) and that’s what I’ll be getting involved with.

Best Bets

Sampdoria v Genoa – Genoa double chance (8/13 Coral)

AC Milan v Cesena – Cesena to score Over 0.5 Goals (21/20 Boylesports)

Hellas Verona v Roma – Over 2.5 Goals (20/21 BetVictor)
