National League: Wrexham to impress on a Saturday showdown

NON-LEAGUE expert Paul Maddison (@LouthBigDog) shares his favourite fancies from a Saturday card of National League action.

Bromley v Chester | Saturday 18th November 2017, 15:00

I'm not going to lie, I'm not a fan of recently appointed Chester manager Marcus Bignot. In his spell as manager of the mighty Grimsby Town he never seemed to have a settled team, plenty of square pegs in round holes and for the main part, I don't think the players had a clue what system we were trying to play.

Chester have now lost five of their last seven away games, drawing the other two and failing to score in four of those (Great for my ante-post tip of Ross Hannah top goal scorer). They sit in 22nd place and could be in for a long season.

Bromley have a decent home record on their 3g pitch and have won six of their last nine, keeping clean sheets in four of those six victories.

I wouldn't put anyone off Bromley to win to nil at 13/5 but with odds against available on a home win (103/100 Marathon) I'll take that.)

Eastleigh vs Barrow | Saturday 18th November 2017, 15:00

Really fancy goals in this game. Both teams have strong over 2.5 goal trends in recent weeks and the overs have generously been priced up at odds against by one bookmaker.

Eastleigh have seen six of their last seven have three or more goals with both teams scoring in six of those too, so the goals are going in it both ends.

Barrow have seen five of their last six going over, in fact, two of them have gone over 3.5 and two over 4.5. Over the six-game period, their games have averaged 3.83 goals per game.

Marathon have priced the overs up at 103/100 and although it being a weird price, I like the look of it.

Wrexham vs Ebbsfleet | Saturday 18th November 2017, 15:00

I've been really impressed by Wrexham this season, they sit in 3rd, three points off the top of the table and after tipping them for promotion I'm happy with the position they're in.

I've just checked the promotion and title winners odds again, Stan James is offering 10/1 on promotion which looks a great price. They're also offering 20/1 for Wrexham to lift the title, if they can sign a goal scorer in January that looks a crazy price.

The Dragons who boast the leagues joint tightest defence are taking on a team who have failed to score in their last three away games and although I expect this to be a very tight game I fancy the home to who will be buoyant after their recent derby win over Chester.

That game was played three days before Ebbsfleet last game, so Wrexham has had more time to recover and more time to prepare for this fixture. Wrexham at 7/5 (William Hill) is my pick here.

Best Bets

Bromley v Chester – Bromley to win t0 Win  (103/100 Marathon)

Eastleigh vs Barrow – Over 3.5 goals (103/100 Marathon)

Wrexham vs Ebbsfleet – Wrexham to win (7/5 BetFair)
