National League: Three away day wagers to believe in

NON-LEAGUE expert Paul Maddison (@LouthBigDog) shares his favourite fancies from the weekend's National League action.

Torquay v Wrexham | Saturday 9th September 2017, 15:00

The National League’s most in-form team over the last five games travels to the division’s strugglers over the same period.

Wrexham have won four of their last five, keeping clean sheets in all those victories. They also possess the league’s joint-meanest defence, conceding just five times in eight league games.

Wrexham travel to the south coast to take on the Gulls who have the leakiest defence in the section, conceding 20 in their eight outings. That means United have shipped an average of 2.50 goals per-game.

Torquay also sit rock bottom of the league with just two points so the 31/20 (Bet365) available on the away victory look a great price.

Boreham Wood v Leyton Orient | Saturday 9th September 2017, 15:00

After serving me well last weekend, I'm sticking with Leyton Orient again as they travel to Boreham Wood.

Orient have W5-D1-L0 on grass this season. This form has seen them rise to second in the league, level on points with league leaders Dagenham and Redbridge.

Boreham Wood started the season well but their form has dropped off a bit in recent weeks. Most worryingly for the team from Hertfordshire is their home form – stretching back to the end of last season, they have now lost six of their last eight on their own turf.

I have no idea who comes up with these odds but Leyton Orient are available to back at 113/50 (Marathon). Yes please.

Guiseley v Eastleigh | Saturday 9th September 2017, 15:00

Last up, I'm heading to Yorkshire to oppose the team I backed for relegation at the start of the season.

Guiseley have lost five of their last seven matches with their only win of the season coming against rock bottom Torquay. They have found the net the joint fewest times (6), whilst managing to concede 18 goals – a total only beaten by Torquay.

Eastleigh have had an indifferent start, sitting in 12th after drawing five of their eight encounters. The Spitfires have had a very tough start to the season though, playing four of the current top-five, as well as pre season title favourites Tranmere.

Eastleigh have just signed Gary McSheffrey who will be available for the weekend. With over 450 appearances in the Football League and Premier League, he should be a great addition for this level and will certainly add an attacking threat for his new club.

The visitors are available at 29/25 (Marathon).

Best Bets

Torquay v Wrexham – Wrexham to win (31/20 Bet365)

Boreham Wood v Leyton Orient – Leyton Orient to win (113/50 Marathon)

Guiseley v Eastleigh – Eastleigh to win (29/25 Marathon)
