National League: The Whites to tip the Magpies over the edge when Dover host Maidenhead

NON-LEAGUE expert Paul Maddison (@LouthBigDog) shares his favourite fancies from a Saturday card of National League action.

After missing out on three out of three last week because of an equaliser in the last 5 minutes, by a team that has lost pretty much every game other than the last few times I've backed against them, I'm more confident that the full house is coming.

Although I have had a nightmare 60-hour week at work and hardly any sleep, I've been doing my research with one eye open so I could focus on my screen. A bit like when you're pissed and sending a text. Despite that, I think I've picked up a few winners.

Dover v Maidenhead | Saturday 21st October 2017, 15:00

With my first bet, I'm heading to the south coast to side with Dover. The Whites are in decent form now, sitting second in the league.

With no team seeming to want to go on a decent run and open a gap at the top, the league is still wide open. Dover will be hoping they can push on and open that gap themselves.

They've kept three clean sheets in a row at home, winning two of them. In fact, there's only one other team with a better defensive record.

Their part-time opponents, Maidenhead started the season well, and the departure of leading goal scorer Tarpey was a big blow and that may be starting to show. They have lost their last three away, failing to score in two and lost to two of the bottom four in those games.

10/11 for a home win (William Hill) looks a good bet to me.

Halifax v Torquay| Saturday 21st October 2017, 15:00

Halifax sit just outside the playoffs, as do most teams down to about 15th place Tranmere. Their home form is good in the league, with four wins in five, the other game they drew with in-form Wrexham.

Their opponents Torquay are having an awful time just now. The Gulls are rock bottom of the league with just seven points in 15 games, six of those points were won at home too. They have conceded three or more goals in six of their last nine games.

The home side is available at Evens (William Hill) with just one bookie, they are odds-on across the board otherwise.

Dagenham and Redbridge v Wrexham | Saturday 21st October 2017, 15:00

Lastly, I'm siding with my favourites for promotion again. Wrexham makes the tough trip to Dagenham for what should be a tight game. The Dragons have not lost in 10 league games after a slow start to the season. They have drawn five of those 10 so I'm going to be slightly cautious, but this still looks a good price.

Their opponents started the season well and looked like they could be spending a long time near the top of the table. They have slipped a bit in recent weeks, winning just two of their last nine games, one of which was against the leagues bottom team.

Wrexham is available at a massive 21/10 (Betfair) draw no bet.
