A story similar to many I'm sure, I started betting roughly 10 years ago when I turned 18, and mainly focused on outright results as I was sure, in my young mind, that I knew everything that’s possible about football. I did okay but then i wanted to improve that knowledge further and began looking into statistics, team news and current form. It was basic research initially, but this is when i discovered that i really enjoyed the process of doing my research, and potentially finding some crucial information that could help me to pick a solid bet.82 Articles
After a misspent youth spent sneaking into Midland’s racetracks with his Dad without paying, Gavin caught the betting bug early. While the betting landscape may have changed, it’s still all about solving puzzles and although edges have got smaller, there are still profitable angles for punters lower down the football pyramid. When not watching his beloved Coventry City, he’s watching games in Leagues 1 and 2, on the lookout for goalscoring defenders, penalty taking midfielders and in-form strikers for his Anytime Notebook.77 Articles
I'm currently a student studying journalism at Salford University. I got into betting early on, usually doing small stake accumulators with silly returns, just as a way of making weekend's more interesting. This quickly led to me taking it more seriously and now I bet regularly on football and horse racing, as well as sports such as cricket, golf and snooker. Football and horse racing are my main passions and I support Chelsea.54 Articles
I'm a graduate in BA (Hons) Sports Journalism from Solent University where I received First Class Honours. My dissertation was actually on the sports gambling sector. I currently work in the sports media industry producing an array of content whether that be written, visual or audio. My passions include golf, English football - that's from the Premier League right down to non-league football - Aldershot being my team! as well as NFL and a number of other sports. I first got into betting through friends, pretty much as soon as I was old enough to do so and in the past I have run my own paid gambling group. Sport and betting go hand-in-hand but it's important to understand that this is merely a bit of fun for me. I've learnt a hell of a lot in the industry with many mistakes made but I hope my previews, whether that be on the latest golf event or something totally different, provide you with some added value.54 Articles
I started betting on football more seriously whilst at university where I thought I knew everything about football. However, I quickly realised that the use of data gave you an edge. All my bets are based on statistical model output and research. When I haven't got my head in data I am life long Ipswich fan.52 Articles
I got into betting through my love of sport and started as soon as I turned 18. Football is the main sport I bet on and I like to try out new and obscure markets to try and find value. You can't beat a 8-fold accumulator on a Saturday though! I support Reading and try to get to as many games as possible when I'm back home from university.46 Articles
'The Voice of Value’ column is written by Paul Gallagher who is an amateur tipster with a love for racing and jumps racing in particular. He caught the bug at an early age when his grandfather had a share in a winning chaser and his annual Grand National and Cheltenham guides have been well received over the last few years. Paul also enjoys the flat racing and football.46 Articles
I first got the taste for betting when I was quite young, every year I would pick a horse for the Grand National and my Dad would go to the bookies and put my £1 each way bet on. As soon as I could get away with it I was in the bookies every Saturday afternoon searching the football coupons and putting on stupidly big accas. Now enjoy betting mainly singles or small multiples, usually sticking to the English leagues. I don't favour any particular market, but rarely watch a game without having small first scorer bet for a bit of fun. I've got 3 boys which take up most of my time, but luckily they enjoy going to watch football and days at the races. I'm a life long Grimsby Town fan, one of a few that has seen some ups as well as all the downs.45 Articles
I have looked to refine my betting approach recently, using Expected Goals (xG) to try and gain an advantage on the bookmaker. I'm a huge fan of the EFL and top European leagues, and a long-suffering Charlton Athletic supporter.43 Articles
