These two old foes meet for the second time in a week after they played out a drab 0-0 draw at Anfield, something that seems to happen quite often when they face off. It was a snoozefest as this fixture tends to be, let’s pray for something better is on the cards from an entertainment perspective.

There’s likely to be a few changes for both sides but it will be interesting if the Red Devils employ the same game-plan and look to contain and counter but chiefly focus on defending.

Liverpool are going through a very rare dodgy patch under Jurgen Klopp which could put extra pressure on them here, the bookmakers have pushed them out to around 13/8. They were much shorter in the league game last season but their drift is understandably with the famous front three struggle to ignite. Away from home they haven’t convinced for a long time, a win would be huge for belief.

United bagged another away win midweek at Craven Cottage midweek and have had a strong run for a prolonged period of time now. We don’t know whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will play the key men but strength in depth is pretty good, Mason Greenwood, Donny Van Der Beek and Nemanja Matic could come in to supplement the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Edison Cavani.

I don’t think there will be loads of goals but taking United or draw alongside Under 4 Goals on Bet365’s BetBuilder looks a nice odds-against price.

Curtis Jones should come back into the side for the visitors and being a local lad he will be keen to show some fight for the club when the chips are down. He’s been carded three times this season including in the last tie at Aston Villa. He’s 6/1 to be carded in what is a derby match, that looks worthy of a small play too.

Best Bets

Manchester United vs Liverpool – Manchester United Double Chance and Under 4 Goals (21/20 Bet365)

Manchester United vs Liverpool – Curtis Jones to be booked (6/1 Betfair)

About Author

I was first interested in the betting industry by doing the odd coupon at 18 - when I’d see a team at odds I didn’t expect it sparked my curiosity as to why that was. I’d go and research everything around that club: form, team news, manager quotes, and try give my own price in an aim to out-do the bookies. I personally enjoy punting on the Football League and European competitions. I like to diversify what markets I bet on so sometimes it’s outrights, goals, player cards etc. The Football League angle comes from being an avid Bradford City fan which has its ups (reaching a League Cup final and beating Chelsea in the FA Cup) and its downs (The entirety of 2018). Hobbies of mine include playing football, cross country running, travelling and playing Football Manager.
