Manchester City always seem to stroll through the group stages of this competition before blowing up in the knockout rounds. Their group this year looks relatively tough compared to previous seasons, PSG, Leipzig and Brugge all pose their own threats but City have strong home form in this competition and they can kick this seasons competition with a win here.

It was more functional than flashy for the Blue Moon at Leicester on Saturday but it was another clean sheet and they look to have a good balance between defence and attack. With options as plentiful as always for Pep Guardiola he could make a few alterations without it being to the detriment of the XI. Kevin De Bruyne is likely to feature after injury has kept him out most of this season whilst John Stones may be drafted back in.

Leipzig have had a disappointing start to the season under new manager Jesse Marsch. Three losses out of four is far from ideal and I can’t hold out much hope for them keeping the score down here now they’re without Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate.

Man City are odds-against with a -1.5 start on the asian handicap and that looks very generous indeed. We simply need the hosts to prevail by two or more goals.

About Author

I was first interested in the betting industry by doing the odd coupon at 18 - when I’d see a team at odds I didn’t expect it sparked my curiosity as to why that was. I’d go and research everything around that club: form, team news, manager quotes, and try give my own price in an aim to out-do the bookies. I personally enjoy punting on the Football League and European competitions. I like to diversify what markets I bet on so sometimes it’s outrights, goals, player cards etc. The Football League angle comes from being an avid Bradford City fan which has its ups (reaching a League Cup final and beating Chelsea in the FA Cup) and its downs (The entirety of 2018). Hobbies of mine include playing football, cross country running, travelling and playing Football Manager.
