Liverpool are back at Anfield on matchday 4 in the Champions League and are aiming to make it 4 wins out of 4 and all but confirming their place as top team in the group. They may be a bit light in central midfield with Thiago, Fabinho, James Milner and Naby Keita missing or doubtful, it could mean Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain gets another start.

The Reds did slip up to concede twice after cruising into a 2 goal lead against Brighton at the weekend and it did highlight their slight defensive flaws. The do ultimately have an excellent record at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp though and with them scoring heaps of goals this season it’s hard to look against them as they take on a Atletico Madrid side that aren’t the most fluent going forward.

Having said that, Atleti did get a result last time they visited Merseyside and have altered their style to be a bit more outgoing. The emission of Fabinho especially would be a huge blow to the hosts in terms of keeping Atleti at bay. They could notch here but Liverpool tend to simply outscore their opponents, just like the 3-2 win in the reverse meeting.

With that in mind the 12/5 (Bet365) on Liverpool to win and both teams to score might be the value selection here.

After all Liverpool have scored 2 or more goals in 14 of their 15 game in all competitions this season with 3 or more landing in 10/15. Atletico Madrid are yet to keep a clean sheet on the road this term and are coming up against one of the most rampant attacking forces on the planet.

About Author

I was first interested in the betting industry by doing the odd coupon at 18 - when I’d see a team at odds I didn’t expect it sparked my curiosity as to why that was. I’d go and research everything around that club: form, team news, manager quotes, and try give my own price in an aim to out-do the bookies. I personally enjoy punting on the Football League and European competitions. I like to diversify what markets I bet on so sometimes it’s outrights, goals, player cards etc. The Football League angle comes from being an avid Bradford City fan which has its ups (reaching a League Cup final and beating Chelsea in the FA Cup) and its downs (The entirety of 2018). Hobbies of mine include playing football, cross country running, travelling and playing Football Manager.
