Liverpool v Fulham -Dutch courage needed at Anfield

UNBEATEN Liverpool welcome rock-bottom Fulham to Anfield for a midday kick-off on Sunday. Tom Love (@TomLove_18) picks out his favourite betting angle.

Liverpool v Fulham | Sunday 11th November 2018, 12:00 | BT Sport

Wednesday saw Liverpool fall 2-0 unexpectedly in Belgrade, it was a deserved loss too. The Reds were sloppy all over the pitch and lacked any kind of clinical edge, they’re certainly not at their free-flowing bet at the moment.

Jurgen Klopp couldn’t have asked for a more favourable game to bounce back from that loss, Fulham are in town. Pressure is continuously growing on Slavisa Jokanovic, the Cottagers were woeful against lowly Huddersfield and once again conceded from a cross, a feature of their leaky nature this term.

Fulham has no plan B to cope with the Terriers hard press, they desperately lacked an attacking midfielder to link play and simply didn’t have the strikers to run in behind. Passing was careless and that meant they lacked fluidity in their attacking approach.

Performance data has the club on the Thames as one of the worst defensive side in the division, they still haven’t kept a clean sheet this season and it would be a miracle if they managed to keep this Liverpool side out.

Finding Value

The trouble with this perceived one-sided encounter is finding an angle at an appetising quote. Therefore I’m going to plump for a few bigger prices.

As mentioned earlier, Fulham have struggled with defending crosses and Liverpool should get plenty of set-pieces and corners so I like the look of Virgil Van-Dijk to score anytime at 13/2 with William Hill.

He’s their chief threat in the box from set-piece scenarios and has more of a chance against Fulham than anyone else. Centre half Christopher Schindler bagged against them on Monday and that gives me hope that the big Dutchman can cause some damage.

I’m also going to have a play on the 3-0 correct scoreline at 7/1 with Bet365. Klopp will demand a response both offensively and defensively from his side, in the league the Reds have been strong at the back and Fulham looked poor going forward last week.

Best Bets

Virgil Van Dijk To Score anytime – 13/2 (William Hill)

3-0 Liverpool – 7/1 (Bet365)

About Author

I was first interested in the betting industry by doing the odd coupon at 18 - when I’d see a team at odds I didn’t expect it sparked my curiosity as to why that was. I’d go and research everything around that club: form, team news, manager quotes, and try give my own price in an aim to out-do the bookies. I personally enjoy punting on the Football League and European competitions. I like to diversify what markets I bet on so sometimes it’s outrights, goals, player cards etc. The Football League angle comes from being an avid Bradford City fan which has its ups (reaching a League Cup final and beating Chelsea in the FA Cup) and its downs (The entirety of 2018). Hobbies of mine include playing football, cross country running, travelling and playing Football Manager.
