DERBY Sunday concludes with the Merseyside match-up between Liverpool and Everton at Anfield. Tom Love (@TomLove_18) picks out his favourite betting angle.

Liverpool v Everton | Sunday 2nd December 2018, 16:15 | Sky Sports

It’s an all-Merseyside affair to end Derby Sunday. Hosts Liverpool will be hoping to bounce back from defeat in Paris on Wednesday night, whereas Everton will be looking to prolong their decent run of late.

The Reds only registered one shot on-target in the French capital, and that was James Milner’s penalty. In the Premier League, Liverpool are winning plenty without being wholly convincing; optimists will see that as a good thing, hoping there’s more to come and the Reds will improve from now on.

One thing the Jurgen Klopp’s side have in their favour here is a strong record at their Anfield base against their rivals. They’re unbeaten in 21 at home against the Toffees, a quite remarkable record, and looking at that the 2/5 quotes on them look somewhat justified.

However, this is probably the strongest Everton squad for a few years now. Marco Silva has started to get a settled side together and consistency is improving with that. The Toffees did manage to get a point in this respective fixture last season and that was with a pretty poor squad compared to this.

Andre Gomes has impressed in the last few games – he failed to settle at Barcelona but looks right at home partnering Idrissa Gueye in the middle of the park. They’re dynamic going forward with the likes of Bernard, Richarlison and Theo Walcott, even Ademola Lookman has come in and done well. Gylfi Sigurdsson is back to his best and poses a major set-piece threat.

In terms of performance I don’t think there’s all that much between these two sides and I think the value is with the away side here. We can back Everton with a +1.5 Asian Handicap (10/13 BetVictor) and I don’t mind that. Even though Liverpool have a decent record of clean sheets they do give up opportunities and if Everton can be clinical they can score here.

If the boys from Goodison win, draw or lose by a single goal we have ourselves a winner. They’ll have been preparing for this game all week whereas Liverpool has a big game away in Europe midweek, I think the Toffees can keep this a competitive game.

About Author

I was first interested in the betting industry by doing the odd coupon at 18 - when I’d see a team at odds I didn’t expect it sparked my curiosity as to why that was. I’d go and research everything around that club: form, team news, manager quotes, and try give my own price in an aim to out-do the bookies. I personally enjoy punting on the Football League and European competitions. I like to diversify what markets I bet on so sometimes it’s outrights, goals, player cards etc. The Football League angle comes from being an avid Bradford City fan which has its ups (reaching a League Cup final and beating Chelsea in the FA Cup) and its downs (The entirety of 2018). Hobbies of mine include playing football, cross country running, travelling and playing Football Manager.
