DANIEL McCulloch (@DMcCulloch1984) gives us his best bets ahead of England's Euro 2020 qualifying encounter with Bulgaria at Wembley on Saturday.

Having been a child of the 90s, I remember some great Bulgaria sides, including the one that reached the 1994 World Cup semi-final. Sadly, the current crop are a far cry from that progressive side and this is represented fairly clearly in the match odds, with Bulgaria currently available at 40/1.

In qualification to date, The Lions have failed to win a single game, drawing their first two matches with Montenegro and Kosovo before suffering solitary goal defeats to Czech Republic and Kosovo. Their Nations League campaign was similarly hard-fought. They had three single goal victories, two 1-1 draws and a 1-0 defeat away to Norway.

Admittedly none of those sides possess the quality of England but in that ten game sample they have not lost by a single goal in any. With this in mind, I like the look of Bulgaria +2.5 with Blacktype. Further, they have scored in nine goals within that said sample and face and England defence that is hardly impenetrable.

During the World Cup last summer, England conceded to Tunisia and Panama, while Montenegro found the net against them in their last Euro 2020 qualifier and Slovakia scored at Wembley during qualifying to the World Cup. Ultimately, I expect England to win, so the 13/5 Coral are offering on an England victory and Both Teams To Score looks perfectly fair to me.

Best Bets

England v Bulgaria – Bulgaria +2.5 Asian Handicap (49/50 Blacktype)

England v Bulgaria – England to win and Both Teams To Score (13/5 Coral)

I have loved numbers and sport throughout my life, so betting was a natural step. I started writing my own betting column at university and have continued throughout my adult life. I bet on football, golf and the NFL mainly but two flies going up a wall could also capture my attention. I am a West Brom fan and also follow teams in other sports but I think it's fair to say that no side compare with The Baggies!
