Accrington vs Wimbledon | Tuesday 7th December 2021, 19:45

Accrington hit Fleetwood for five on Saturday and a win on Tuesday night would lift Stanley into the top half of the League One table. AFC Wimbledon are six points behind Accrington, but The Dons have played two games less and don’t need to be looking over their shoulders just yet.

Wimbledon also come into this fixture on the back of a good result. The Dons edged out Cheltenham in a 4-3 thriller at Plough Lane on Saturday to reach the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Saturday’s goal-fest was by no means a one-off for The Dons supporters.

Matches involving AFC average 3.11 goals per-match, a tally only topped by five other sides in the division. One of those teams is Accrington who average 3.25 per-game and 3.47 at home. So, it’s fair to say we can expect goals at the Crown Ground on Tuesday evening.

Now for more stats to suggest goals are guaranteed. There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Accrington's last 6 home games, AFC Wimbledon's last three games have served up 16 goals and they’ve conceded at least two in their last three league games.

Harrogate vs Forest Green | Tuesday 7th December, 2021 19:45

The top two scorers in the division meet on Tuesday night as league leaders Forest Green travel to play-off occupants Harrogate Town. Forest Green are unbeaten in their last seven and currently have a six-point lead at the top of the table, with a game in hand. Harrogate also come into the match on a high following a last minute winner against Porstmouth in the FA Cup on Saturday.

It promises to be a close encounter and it’s a tough ask for either side to claim all three points here. Therefore, the goals angle appeals again. On average, games involving Harrogate Town average 3 goals, this the highest number in League Two. And in terms of goals scored, Forest Green top the table and score the joint-highest number away from home, averaging two per-game.

Both teams go into the match with momentum, but Forest Green have had a few extra days off which could make all the difference. Expect an entertaining evening in Harrogate on Tuesday evening.

Doncaster vs Oxford | Tuesday 7th December 2021, 19:45

We may well only be a week in, but December is looking like more doom and gloom for Doncaster. They’ve already been knocked out of both domestic cup competitions this month and are now winless in six.

Oxford, on the other hand, are in fantastic form. The U’s are undefeated in seven and have held league leaders Rotherham and fellow promotion challengers Sunderland in their last two matches. A win here could lift Karl Robinson’s side to 4th in League One.

Doncaster have failed to score in their last three matches and Oxford have one of the best defences in the division, having only conceded on average a goal per-game this season. Doncaster find themselves in the top five for goals conceded and they look set to ship more goals here.

In-form Oxford Striker Matty Taylor has scored five in his last six and he also bagged a brace in the two sides’ last meeting. He’ll no doubt fancy his chances of adding to his tally on Tuesday evening.

Fleetwood vs Bolton | Tuesday 7th December 2021, 19:45

Managerless Fleetwood are winless in eight and currently find themselves in the League One relegation zone. The Cod Army were hammered 5-1 on Saturday by mid-table Accrington and confidence has surely hit rock bottom in the Fleetwood dressing room.

Fleetwood have the worst home record in the division, and despite their inconsistency, Bolton will see this game as a real opportunity to reassert their play-off credentials.

Ian Evatt’s visitors earned 7 points from a possible 12 in November and there are signs Bolton are starting to move in the right direction following a horrific run in October. Bolton have won all four of their previous meetings with Fleetwood and the last time the two sides met was only a couple of weeks ago; Wanderers came out on top in a 1-0 victory.

Given Fleetwood’s struggles and Bolton’s longer break between games, I think we can expect a similar result on Tuesday night.

Bolton’s top scorer Dapo Afolayan is back available following suspension and he’s likely to find the net against a team that’s conceded the second most goals in the Football League this season.
