EFL Cup – Brewers to be left feeling Claret & Blue

FOOTBALL LEAGUE lover Ross Casey (@rosscasey24) pinpoints the value ahead of Tuesday night's League Cup coupon.

QPR v Bristol Rovers | Tuesday 28th August 2018, 19:45

QPR had a horrible start to the season, but after bringing in Tomer Hemed and Nahki Wells up front and dropping Matt Ingram for the impressive youngster Joe Lumley, they picked up their first win and clean sheet in the Championship last weekend.

That has lifted some of the doom and gloom around Loftus Road and whilst it wasn't always pretty, they got the job done.

Rangers have already beaten a League One side at home in this competition after two quickfire goals were enough to defeat Peterborough. The Posh were fancied by some for that game, whereas Bristol Rovers are coming into this one on the back of two straight defeats.

For me, QPR will be hoping to carry on a winning mentality here and will be desperate to keep a clean sheet. I think think they can do both against a Rovers side that have only scored six goals in their first six games this season – let's not forget their side is improved now and they have kept two clean sheets in four at home.

Therefore, my selection here is QPR to win to nil at 11/5 with BetVictor.

Burton v Aston Villa | Tuesday 28th August 2018, 19:45

Aston Villa threw away three points on the weekend after conceding a 93rd minute penalty at home to Reading, but they remain undefeated in each of their six games this season.

The Villains were somewhat fortunate to win their first round match at Yeovil considering the League Two side had a goal disallowed and missed a penalty.

The introduction of Jonathon Kodjia and Jack Grealish was the turning point in that game and I think Bruce may well have learned a lesson there and play a stronger side in this one – remember he can call upon Yannick Bolasie now too.

Burton have lost four of their six matches this season as their relegation from last season seems to have had an adverse effect on this one.

Get Villa to defeat Burton (just as they did 4-0 in pre-season) at a great looking price of 10/11 with Marathon.

AFC Wimbledon v West Ham | Tuesday 28th August 2018, 19:45 | Sky Sports

AFC Wimbledon may well fancy the upset against a Hammers side that have not won any of their opening three games of the season and only picked up two victories from seven pre season matches too.

However, with no wins in any of their three home games so far, I see that as unlikely.

Rather than backing a full-time result shot here, I am looking at the anytime goalscorer market. Michail Antonio and Mirko Arnautovic were both injured on the weekend and are unlikely to play so I will throw my hat on Javier Hernandez to score against a Wimbledon defence that have conceded five times in their last two games.

Back Chicharito to score against AFC Wimbledon with a best price of 8/5 with 888.

Best Bets

QPR v Bristol Rovers – QPR to win to nil (11/5 BetVictor)

Burton v Aston Villa – Aston Villa to win (10/11 Marathon)

AFC Wimbledon v West Ham – Javier Hernandez to score (8/5 888)
