Chelsea take on Brighton in the Premier League on Tuesday, with the Blues able to move up to third in the table with a victory.

The Seagulls, meanwhile, are six points above the relegation zone, but they have played two fewer games than 18th-placed Fulham.

It has been an incredibly promising start to life for Thomas Tuchel since taking over Chelsea, with the German guiding them into the final of the FA Cup and the semi-final of the Champions League, as well as edging closer to a top four spot.

Tuchel’s first 10 Premier League games saw under four goals scored at either end before recent games against West Brom and Crystal Palace went a little crazy, while Brighton’s last 14 PL games have all gone under the four goal line, so it’s tough to envisage many goals on the night to be honest.

I do fancy Chelsea to have just about enough to win this one, though, with their strength in depth potentially allowing the likes of Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Matteo Kovacic to come back into the XI which defeated Man City at Wembley on Saturday.

As such, Chelsea to win and under four goals looks a strong play at 23/20 (BoyleSports). This has landed in 12 of Tuchel’s 19 matches in all competitions, as well as in four of Brighton’s last seven league matches.

One man who has thrived under Tuchel’s tutelage is Mason Mount, who has scored four league goals since the German arrived as well as landing at least one shot on target in each of his last five league appearances.

Given how much higher up the pitch he is operating, then, I’m surprised to see odds of 10/11 (Betfair) for him to have a shot on target and think this is worth backing for sure. Brighton will likely sit fairly deep so the England man will have plenty of opportunities to dig one out from distance.

As a longshot, I quite like Mount and Marcos Alonso to have 2+ shots on target each at 40/1 (Betfair). This landed in Chelsea’s last home game against West Brom, with both players often taking set-pieces, as well as being two of the Blues’ main goal threats from open play.

Indeed, Alonso has had 2+ shots on target in three of his last four league starts, and will surely start against Brighton given that Ben Chilwell has started four matches in a row at left wing-back and may need a rest.

I've been a football fanatic ever since my five-year-old self saw Michael Owen score *that* goal against Argentina. My dad's a Liverpool fan so I never looked back from there. As an avid watcher, player, and writer of the game, I suppose betting on it was always an inevitability at some point. It started off with a weekly accumulator and the odd punt on national tournaments, but with the rise of player markets and custom bet builders in recent years I feel there's more fun, control and value to be had these days, which is what it's all about, really. I'll always ensure I research the stats and probabilities behind my tips (where possible) so that my experienced eyes aren't playing tricks on me!
