Burnley v Tottenham: Spurs can seal narrow road success

PREMIER LEAGUE analyst Daniel McCulloch (@DMcCulloch1984) takes a look at Saturday's early Premier League contest between Burnley and Tottenham.

With four victories in a row, a last-eight spot in the Champions League a near certainty and Harry Kane back in full training, the morale among Tottenham supporters should be pretty high but an early Saturday kick-off against Burnley is a far tougher proposition than it looked a couple of months ago.

Burnley are unbeaten in the Premier League this calendar year and have recorded 15 points from their last seven games. The Clarets performance levels have improved significantly since Tom Heaton replaced Joe Hart in goal and but for two late goals from Manchester United at Old Trafford they would have managed an even greater tally.

I believe that Tottenham may ultimately have too much for Sean Dyche’s charges but it won’t be easy. Since Kane suffered an injury against Manchester United at Wembley, the North London club have won all four Premier League games, but three of these were by a single goal and all three of those winners came via a goal in the last 10 minutes.

There are several ways you could play this – Draw/Tottenham at 7/2 holds some appeal as does backing the 2-1 away victory but my vote is for the away side to win by a single goal.

As stated already this has occurred in three of their last four matches and even if Kane does start, I cannot foresee a comfortable away victory. Since Burnley were promoted to the Premier League at the end of the 2015/2016 season, the Turf Moor outfit have lost six of their 15 home matches against the ‘Big Six by a single goal and once again I expect them to be competitive but ultimately come unstuck.

At 11/4 with SkyBet, Spurs winning by a single goal looks good value, to me.

Price depending, if you can get anything from 8/1 or above on Tottenham to win 2-1 then I would also recommend that.
