Bayern Munich v Tottenham: Fringe Spur could make an impact

THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE continues on Wednesday night. We asked Tom Love (@TomLove_18) to source the best bets from Tottenham's trip to Bayern Munich.

Dead rubbers are always ones to approach with caution when it comes to betting. Team news and motives of sides are difficult to gauge so I’d advise small stakes if you are to get involved.

Here we have two already qualified teams in Bayern Munich and Spurs; if anything it is a pain for the two managers. Jose Mourinho is likely to field a shadow side as they have a busy festive period on the horizon whereas Bayern benefit from a ‘hinrunde’ or a winter break. That means interim coach Hansi Flick could field a relatively strong side and the heavily odds-on quotes on the Bavarians look fair.

Robert Lewandowski is on fire in this competition and I think his motives can’t be questioned here, he will want to play and enhance his record. He’s short enough though at 1/3 anytime and shorter than 2/1 to score first.

Any pro-Bayern market looks too skinny and in a game that could be open as there’s nothing riding on it I’ll focus on possible Spurs players. Ryan Sessengnon is likely to get a start here in an advanced left wing role with Danny Rose expected to fill in at left back.

The former Fulham prodigy has had a difficult start to life at Spurs with injury hampering him, but now the England youth international is back he will be keen to make his mark and give Mourinho something to think about.

With Bayern likely to push their full backs on, Sessengnon could get space in behind and I like the 16/5 quotes on him to have two shots here with Coral, it just looks too big if he does play as a winger.

I’ve not been impressed by Bayern and their defence especially. They’ve lost back-to-back games in the Bundesliga and look too short here. In a game with little value, I’m happy to plump for a decent price which should give you a run for your money if he plays in an advanced role.

Bayern Munich v Tottenham – Ryan Sessengnon to have 2+ shots (16/5 Coral)

About Author

I was first interested in the betting industry by doing the odd coupon at 18 - when I’d see a team at odds I didn’t expect it sparked my curiosity as to why that was. I’d go and research everything around that club: form, team news, manager quotes, and try give my own price in an aim to out-do the bookies. I personally enjoy punting on the Football League and European competitions. I like to diversify what markets I bet on so sometimes it’s outrights, goals, player cards etc. The Football League angle comes from being an avid Bradford City fan which has its ups (reaching a League Cup final and beating Chelsea in the FA Cup) and its downs (The entirety of 2018). Hobbies of mine include playing football, cross country running, travelling and playing Football Manager.
