NOBODY knows the Anytime Goalscorer market in the Football League better than Gavin Horsfall (@GHorsfall). His fabulous Anytime Notebook column returns for 2015/16.

Burton Albion v Scunthorpe United | Saturday 15.00

A frustrating season for Mark Duffy (21/4 Stan James) last time out as the Birmingham winger endured injury and a loss of his first-team place at Blues when Gary Rowett came in and took the reins.

He’s turned a loan spell at Burton into a permanent move over the summer though and has enjoyed a good pre-season operating just behind the striker in Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s 4-2-3-1. The 29-year-old notched a goal in a 2-1 defeat to Leicester and put in another good performance in a defeat to Derby ahead of The Brewer’s first game against Scunthorpe this weekend.

We’re getting a nice price here for a player likely to be operating in a more central role with the added value of 80-odd previous appearances for The Iron a few seasons ago.

Bristol Rovers v Northampton Town | Saturday 15.00

Surprisingly for a side managed by Chris Wilder, Northampton are a side I could have a bit of time for this year. Wilder has a bucket load of options to play in behind Marc Richards and it’s Lawson D’Ath (5/1 Bet365) who gets the nod this week for their trip to newly-promoted Bristol Rovers.

I was really impressed with the 22-year-old who came on leaps and bounds from his loan spell at Dagenham the year prior, scoring nine goals and finishing as The Cobblers’ second top-scorer behind Richards.

Operating mainly on the right of a three in-behind Richards he plays advanced enough to contribute in most attacking moves. Wilder sides have been known to start quickly and D’Ath should play a key role if they do.

AFC Wimbledon v Plymouth Argyle | Saturday 15.00

Plymouth feel like the forgotten men in all the pre-season hullabaloo but with John Sheridan’s exit comes the arrival of Derek Adams, who by all accounts got Ross County playing some tidy football north of the border.

Reuben Reid has had a disrupted pre-season but Argyle were prolific enough without him scoring 18 in six with Jake Jervis (19/5 Stan James) hitting the ground running after following Adams from County.

The 23-year-old has already been on loan to half the Football League but looks a threat from the right-hand side in behind Reid, in what should be a positive attacking unit under Adams.
