ANYTIME Goalscorer goodness from the wizard of Football League betting Gavin Horsfall (GHorsfall).

Barnsley v Scunthorpe United | Saturday 15.00

Two good sides meet at Oakwell and this game should be full of goals.

Scunthorpe threw away a two-goal lead at Crawley last weekend but I managed to catch the most part of that game and they looked very impressive in parts.

Mark Robins has got a whole bunch of quality attacking players at his disposal and the Iron enjoy getting forward into threatening positions. I definitely think they’ve got a goal in them at Barnsley.

The difficult thing is who to pick from Luke Williams, Paddy Madden, Lyle Taylor, Gary McSheffrey or even Terry Hawkridge. Having started off with Williams, I’ve decided to take the 3/1 (Betfred) on Taylor.

He scored last week, he’s a better price than Madden who plays up front alongside and although he’s not prolific, he does play in a forward line for a side that’s been very decent going forward. And of course, he used to play for Sheffield United.

Bradford v Leyton Orient | Saturday 15.00

Leyton Orient might just have turned the corner. Perhaps.

They’re certainly a side that have also got goals in them and this weekend they head to a Bradford side without a clean sheet in eight games. Chris Dagnell’s a player I’ve seen a lot of over the years.

He’s been in and out of the Orient side but had one of his best games in last Saturday’s 4-1 win over Crewe and got off the mark in that victory too.

Ladbrokes have made him a 9/4 poke to notch at Valley Parade and that’s good enough for me.

He’s a forward player in a rich vein of form, playing in a side that’s going well in the attacking third and score a few – it seems to be the theme for this week’s Notebook.

Carlisle United v Newport County | Saturday 15.00

Newport are a side that I’ve been looking long and hard over in recent weeks. I’m still a little unsure as to what to make of them – are they adaptable enough to secure a top-seven spot? I’ve not yet made my mind up.

But they have been looking sharp in the attacking third and one thing we do know, is that when they do score goals, they’re likely to come from the front two of Chris Zebrowski or Aaron O’Connor.

O’Connor’s been in fabulous form of late – a hat-trick last weekend and now has five goals in four games. He’s 2/1 to score on Saturday with Betfred and that’s still a decent price worth taking.

Newport have a fantastic chance of getting a result here. Carlisle conceded four at Dagenham last weekend and have now leaked 14 in their last six games. Not good.

Best Bets

Barnsley v Scunthorpe – Lyle Taylor to score at anytime (3/1 Betfred)

Bradford v Leyton Orient – Chris Dagnell to score at anytime (9/4 Ladbrokes)

Carlisle v Newport – Aaron O'Connor to score at anytime (2/1 Betfred)
