Serie A Tips | 1st February 2015

OUR man in Rome Marco Di Cosmo (@scioltz) has three bets lined up from Sunday’s Serie A action.

Atalanta v Cagliari | Sunday 14.00

Atalanta suffered a last-minute equaliser last time out to deny them a 1-0 win against Chievo. As I’ve mentioned here before, they’re always a strong unit when playing at home and they’ve finally started to click after a slow start.

Cagliari won last time out for Gianfranco Zola but the team hasn’t really shown any clear signs of improvement. The Islanders have a number of injury doubts in attack and won’t travel to Bergamo with their best available squad.

So seeing the hosts available at an attractive odds-against price (5/4 William Hill), I just had to get involved.

Palermo v Hellas Verona | Sunday 14.00

It’s been a return to the old days for Palermo. Just like in previous successful Serie A seasons under former coach Delio Rossi, the Sicilians can call upon an incredibly good record in their own back year.

A remarkable draw against Roma followed four successive wins and the Rosanero are unbeaten in Sicily since September now. Verona make the journey, struggling to recapture last season’s form.

The loss of important players such as Juan Iturbe has proved costly and I’m expecting Hellas to struggle at La Favorita. William Hill make the home win 5/6 and that’s good enough for me.

Torino v Sampdoria | Sunday 14.00

Sampdoria are in a legitimate fight for third, playing some aggressive football under coach Sinisa Mijailovic. And I think they look underrated in the markets for Sunday’s trip to Torino.

Despite winning at Inter Milan (I really didn’t see that coming), Torino just don’t have the quality of last year and the price on the home win just looks far too cramped to touch.

Sampdoria are on a different level to Torino and I'm happy to side with the visitors covering two outcomes. Bet365 have made the Sampdoria-Draw Double Chance a 4/5 shot and it looks much too generous. I’m in.

Best Bets

Atalanta v Cagliari – Atalanta to win (5/4 William Hill)

Palermo v Hellas Verona – Palermo to win (5/6 William Hill)

Torino v Sampdoria – Sampdoria double chance (4/5 Bet365)
