IS Jose Mourinho on the verge of losing his job at Chelsea? Willie Duncan (@Willie_Duncan) explores the odds as the Blues welcome Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday night.

Chelsea v Dynamo Kiev | Wednesday 19.45 | BT Sport 2

Chelsea’s calamitous campaign continued at the weekend as the Blues were beaten 3-1 by Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho looked like a man in desperate need of a hug – or possibly just a win – cutting a disconsolate figure as yet another post-mortem was required in west London.

Fortunately for Jose, that elusive victory looks to be just around the corner as Chelsea play host to Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Last season’s Premier League champions have been like a tribute act to Frank Spencer and the Chuckle Brothers at times this term, but I fancy them to enjoy a much-needed, morale-boosting win against Kiev.

The Ukrainian side may have kept a clean sheet in nine of their last 10 matches, but Sergei Rebrov’s side have a soft centre when they come up against better sides.

They conceded twice at home against Porto in their opening Group G fixture, while they also suffered a horrendous 3-0 home loss to Shakhtar Donetsk in the league last month.

The Blues bossed the last meeting between these two sides, but just couldn’t put the ball into the net, with Edin Hazard and Willian striking the woodwork, while Mourinho’s men also had a strong penalty claim waved away.

Chelsea have a strong home record in this competition, having lost just two of their last 13 Champions League matches at Stamford Bridge.

Their last five wins at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League have been by, at least, a two-goal margin and Mourinho’s men can give their beleaguered boss something to smile about by keeping that trend going on Wednesday night.
