OUR bookings man Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) reckons there's value in backing a card-happy game in Greece tonight.

Olympiakos v Bayern Munich | Wednesday 19.45 | BT Sport Extra

The opening Group F fixture between Olympiakos and Bayern Munich catches the eye tonight.

Our old friend, referee Carlos Velasco Carballo, is the man with the whistle. He took charge of the recent Leverkusen-Lazio game and brandished six yellows and one red. Domestically he has dished out 13 cautions and sent a further two off in just two games. In short, he likes to get his cards out.

We probably all expect Bayern to win this game with long periods of possession. Pep Guardiola's teams have generally had good discipline – in the six Champions League group games last term the Bavarians only picked up eight cards.

On the other hand, Olympiakos have received four yellows in each of their last two European encounters. If I was pricing this up, I'd have Olympiakos at 8/13 to be the team to have the most cards in the match. Therefore, I was shocked to see William Hill offering 10/11. Of course, I’m getting involved.
