A brand new daily column kicks-off as Jack Wright (@JackWright_BSB) highlights his favourite four goalscorer selections on Saturday.

Wrighty’s Saturday Goalscorer Lucky 15 | 10th April 2021

Barnsley vs Middlesbrough – Daryl Dike (13/2)

Dike bagged a brace and still had time to miss a hattrick clinching penalty in Monday’s game at Luton. The powerful American forward has impressed since swapping the MLS for the Championship and after just 13 appearances has already bagged himself 7 goals.

Boro have partnered Grant Hall with Paddy McNair at the heart of their defence in their last two fixtures and they will have their hands full keeping the 20-year-old off the scoresheet as the home side look to continue their great run of form knowing three points at Oakwell could lift them as high as 3rd in the table as the regular season nears its conclusion.

Bournemouth vs Coventry – Arnaut Danjuma (6/1)

Danjuma has a fantastic opportunity to add to his 11 league goals from 27 appearances against a very travel-sick Coventry side. The Sky Blues are on an eight-game winless streak on the road (D2, L6), and have conceded 2 or more goals in five, they have the worst away record in the league collecting just 11 points from a possible 57.

The Cherries however have now won three consecutive Championship games by 2+ goals, and know a win here could sneak them back into the top six. A run of just one defeat in their last seven league matches, scoring first in five should make Mark Robins side fear the worst. Danjuma scored last time out for his fifth goal from his previous seven league appearances – three came as his side’s first goalscorer.

Gillingham vs Shrewsbury – Vadaine Oliver (11/2)

With just six games remaining and a four-point gap to the top-six, Gillingham will have to go for it here drawing games will not be good enough to give them a crack at the Championship. Steve Evans’ side got battered by a Jerry Yates inspired Blackpool on Easter Monday as the Tangerines striker outshot the Gills own prolific marksman Vadaine Oliver.

The 29-year-old has had by far and away his best season as a bit of a journeyman lower league performer, bagging 14 goals from his 38 League One appearances but he has been on fire in the back end of the season. The former Northampton forward has scored in 7 of his last 10 appearances netting 9 goals in the process.

He found the back of the net in the two games immediately after drawing a blank during that run – and after being kept quiet on Monday, Im taking him to bounce back here against a side with one eye on the beach.

Kilmarnock vs Ross County – Kyle Lafferty (6/1)

It’s a trip north of the border for my final selection as Kilmarnock take on Ross County, the side directly above them, knowing a win will mean swapping places in the Premiership relegation group.

Nomadic striker Kyle Lafferty has been the unlikely hero after arriving from Serie B outfit Reggina the Northern Irish international has cracked in 6 goals from just 5 starts and will line up brimming full of confidence having claimed the match ball last Saturday after a Scottish Cup hat-trick against League Two side Stenhousemuir.

Lafferty is a player to get onside with while he’s hot and new to a club, so with both those boxes ticked here, I’m taking a chance on him continuing his good form.

Having had a passion for football for as long as I can remember – I’m talking Shoot League Ladders here – one of my first “bets” is still my biggest win. After begging my mum to let me fill in her pools coupon so I could show off my knowledge, eight draws later and a cheque for £11,500 was soon in the post. As a Norwich fan it’s important to have a good grasp of what’s going on in the lower leagues and I also like exploring those less popular leagues to have a delve into any stats-based markets that are available. Right now, I’m particularly enjoying player bets. Outside of sport, I love eating and drinking - maybe a little too much - as well as listening to a varied spectrum of music, both from the comfort of my own home and at festivals.
