I've gone for two bets for the evening session. The bookies may not give these two players much of a chance, but I can see them running their short-priced opposition close.
Dave Chisnall v Mervyn King | Sunday 19:30 | Sky Sports
I can see ‘The King' giving ‘Chizzy' a run for his money. If you read my preview you'll see I tipped King to win this quarter. This is his main obstacle as he faces the quarters favourite, Dave Chisnall.
King has never been far apart from ‘Chizzy', he's won five of their last sevenencounters and only lost in his last two meetings by one and two legs.
‘The King' faired very well here last year getting to the quarter-final to be defeated by Phil Taylor 16-14. He's also been in good form recently making the final of European Tour 8 earlier this year beating Smith, White and Cross on his way.
Chisnall will outscore King but ‘Chizzy' always gives his opponents opportunities as his doubling is very poor; this is where King's solid doubling will come into play. I can see him picking up legs that Chizzy should win.
Chizzy is the best 180 hitter in the game, – he hit the most 180s in the Premier League season. He had a minor blip last time out when getting whitewashed by MVG but before that, he hit five against RVB, six against Price and four against Lim. These were all put up in shorter formats so I expect even more from him.
King is also good at 180s; he's hit 14 in his last five games over 43 legs. I predict this game will be at least 17 legs so there will be plenty of time for these two to hit nine maximums.
The bet is to back Mervyn King +3.5 handicap and Over 8.5 Match 180s at 6/4 William Hill.
Raymond van Barneveld v Joe Cullen | Sunday 21:40 | Sky Sports
Barney recently changed his darts and since then he has somewhat struggled. He's only averaged over 90 in two of his last five and is still not comfortable with his new flights.
RVB was a shock loser in the 1st Round of this tournament last year as well when losing 10-7 to Brendan Dolan, so I think another early exit for the veteran could be on the cards.
Joe ‘The Rockstar' Cullen has played well on tour this year; he made a semi-final last month. In his last four matches he has two 100 averages and a 108 average, which is incredible.
I think he can take at least seven legs off RVB and even go on to win the match and so I'm backing Cullen +3.5 handicap and over two 180s at 5/4 (William Hill)
In his last four matches Cullen has hit 12 180s over 37 legs, which averages out at a 180 every three legs so hitting three 180s in a best of 19-leg game should be a cakewalk for ‘The Rockstar'.
