Spurs succumbed to a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Thursday night. It was a result that has put the North Londoners 10 points behind fifth-placed Manchester United and all but ended any faint hopes of Champions League qualification. Tottenham are only a point ahead of Everton now and should the Toffees get a win here they will go ahead of Jose Mourinho’s side.

Incredibly, Spurs went off as short as 8/11 to beat the Blades, a criminal price. I’d have had that as a pick ‘em so the fact the money kept coming for them is something I can’t get my head around.

The money has come for Mourinho's men in this fixture as well with them backed into almost even-money. That could be down to fears over the fitness of Richarlison who hobbled off in the win over Leicester on Wednesday. Carlo Ancelotti will be hopeful the Brazilian striker will be fit to start and carry on his blossoming partnership with Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Merseysiders have seen a real upturn in performances as well as results since the experienced Italian took the helm, averaging around 2.00 Expected Goals (xG) per game, a very strong effort. On the road they have been superb too, dominating the majority of matches.

Everton are up against a Spurs side who rank sixth for shots conceded (14 per-game) a worrying statistic. If the Blues continue in their positive fashion I can see them getting a result against an out-of-form Tottenham team. You can get 10/11 (Genting Bet) on the away side with a +0.5 start on the Asian Handicap and that makes plenty of appeal.

I’ll also dip into the player props market as I see no reason to not go in again on Lucas Digne to have a shot from outside the box at 10/11. It landed again versus Leicester and with him being on free kicks it’s little surprise. He’s now had a shot outside the box in five of his last seven outings and two of those games he had two in as well.

Best Bets

Tottenham vs Everton – Everton +0.5 Asian Handicap (10/11 Genting Bet)

Tottenham vs Everton – Lucas Digne 1+ shot outside the box (10/11 Pokerstars)

I was first interested in the betting industry by doing the odd coupon at 18 - when I’d see a team at odds I didn’t expect it sparked my curiosity as to why that was. I’d go and research everything around that club: form, team news, manager quotes, and try give my own price in an aim to out-do the bookies. I personally enjoy punting on the Football League and European competitions. I like to diversify what markets I bet on so sometimes it’s outrights, goals, player cards etc. The Football League angle comes from being an avid Bradford City fan which has its ups (reaching a League Cup final and beating Chelsea in the FA Cup) and its downs (The entirety of 2018). Hobbies of mine include playing football, cross country running, travelling and playing Football Manager.
