FOOTBALL JOURNALIST Adam Goodwin (@agjournalism) has analysed the Champions League contest between Tottenham and PSV Eindhoven at Wembley on Tuesday night in search of value.

After a shaky start to their Champions League campaign, Tottenham need a win here to give them some sort of hope of qualifying for the knockout stages.

PSV managed to secure a 2-2 draw against Spurs in the reverse fixture and will hope to deny Spurs of another win at Wembley.

Spurs

I previewed the Wolves v Tottenham game on Saturday and fancied the home side to get something from a potentially lethargic Spurs side, but that didn’t come to fruition.

Tottenham looked comfortable as they went three goals ahead, but maybe the effects of having three games in six days played a part in Wolves’ attempted comeback that saw the game end 3-2.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side need a mini-miracle if they’re to qualify for the knockout stages of this competition. It’s still possible, but they need a win here on Tuesday night. They performed well against Barcelona at Wembley in their last home game in the Champions League and I expect them to come out victorious in this ‘must-win’ game.

PSV

The Dutch outfit have been in superb league form and are undefeated in their last 18 league games in the Eredivise. However, they’re yet to win a game in the Champions League, despite coming from behind to draw 2-2 against Tottenham in the reverse fixture.

They were beaten 4-0 by 10-man Barcelona and lost 2-1 to Inter Milan after going 1-0-up.

They don’t tend to be goal-shy though. They’ve scored three goals in three games in the Champions League (against some good opposition. may I add) and have bagged an astonishing 39 goals in 11 league games this season. Don’t be surprised if they get on the scoresheet at Wembley on Tuesday.

The betting angle

Over 2.5 goals has landed in 11 of Tottenham’s last 12 Champions League games and has copped in five of PSV’s last five games in this competition so I think goals will undoubtedly be on the cards.

Tottenham are the better side and, as I mentioned earlier, this a must-win for them. So if you combine the two, you can get Tottenham to win and over 2.5 goals at 5/6 with Ladbrokes.

I got into betting through my love of sport and started as soon as I turned 18. Football is the main sport I bet on and I like to try out new and obscure markets to try and find value. You can't beat a 8-fold accumulator on a Saturday though! I support Reading and try to get to as many games as possible when I'm back home from university.
