Tottenham v Liverpool: Unlikely 14/1 anytime goal scorer to provide the pièce de résistance

ADAM Goodwin (@agjournalism) takes a view on the fascinating Spurs' tie at Wembley in the Premier League for Tottenham vs Liverpool

Tottenham v Liverpool| Sunday 16:00 | Sky Sports

Super Sunday ends with a fascinating tie at Wembley between two of the most exciting teams in the division. Tottenham and Liverpool had two completely different opposition in the Champions League midweek, but they both secured superb results.

Tottenham held European champions to a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu, a game where they had plenty of chances to win the game. Liverpool were in Slovenia, where they smashed minnows Maribor 7-0.

The Reds’ front three was on fire as per usual and the absence of Sadio Mane didn’t seem to affect them as much as some people though it would.

Spurs surge after sensational result at the Bernabeu

Tottenham’s remarkable result against Real Madrid was unexpected but they were well worth the result, and Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane could’ve won the game for Spurs late on.

Mauricio Pochettino’s surprise team changes worked a treat, with the addition of Fernando Llorente to the starting XI causing the Real Madrid defence plenty of problems and taking some of the attention away from the dangerous Harry Kane.

Spurs’ only loss this season has come at home to Chelsea and, whilst their form at Wembley hasn’t been brilliant, it’s been a lot better than a lot of people expected.

They scraped past Bournemouth at home last weekend and to most people’s amazement Harry Kane DIDN’T score. The England striker has been as prolific as ever this campaign and he’ll fancy himself to bag again this Sunday.

Whilst Kane has been outstanding, Dele Alli has been bang average so far, this season. The ill-disciplined attacking midfielder has scored twice but the stats show that he’s had just one assist, a shooting accuracy of 19% and lost more duels than he’s won.

He’s getting outshone by Christian Eriksen and if he doesn’t perform this weekend, he’s in danger of being dropped by Pochettino.

Alberto Moreno to provide the Pièce de résistance

Liverpool has threatened to beat teams 7-0 plenty of times under Jurgen Klopp and it everything clicked into place against a poor Maribor side on Tuesday. Mo Salah was particularly impressive in Slovenia and he’s been another cracking signing by Klopp.

His electric pace and mesmerising feet have caused defenders all sorts of problems so far this season and he has stepped up to the mark since Sadio Mane was ruled out with his injury.

Liverpool’s full-backs have also excited me this campaign. Joe Gomez was the man of the match versus Manchester United and Alberto Moreno has defied his critics by putting in consistent performances for the Reds week in, week out.

Moreno has had a 100% shot accuracy (from one shot), created nine chances, had a pass accuracy of 83% and zero defensive errors this season – he’s been arguably one of Liverpool’s key men this campaign.

Liverpool’s good record against top sides is well documented – just two defeats against the top six under Klopp – and one of those was against Man City this season, with 10 men.

Best Bet

I think they’ll be goals in this one. Neither side is particularly good at holding leads and, bar Man City, they’re the best-attacking sides in the league.

With the likes of Kane, Eriksen, Salah, Firmino and Coutinho on the pitch it’s bound to be a high scoring game. Both teams to score is 10/17 with SportPesa and whilst this is slightly skinny, I think it’s banker.

And after his good start to the season, I reckon Alberto Moreno could be a surprise goal scorer this Sunday.

He scored against Spurs in a previous game for Liverpool and with Spurs’ forwards constantly bombing on, there could be an opportunity for the Spanish left-back to get in behind the Tottenham defence.

He’s 14/1 best price with Bet365.
