Tottenham v Everton: Scoring sensations to serve up a feast

WILL DYER (@w2Dyer) gives us his view on the Sunday lunchtime game at White Hart Lane as Tottenham entertain Everton.

Tottenham v Everton | Sunday 13:30 | Sky Sports 1

Ronald Koeman takes his Everton side to White Hart Lane for the last time.

Spurs home form has been terrific this season, 11 wins, two draws and no defeats in 13 Premier League home games. With just six league games left at their historic home, it’s a shame that they look unlikely to be able to make the most of that form with Chelsea still 10 points clear.

Tottenham raced into the lead last week, winning 4-0 at half time, but it was probably a little harsh on Stoke and in the second half it was a bit more even. Harry Kane scored his third hat-trick in just nine outings, two of his three goals were sublime finishes; everything he touches turns to gold at the moment.

Koeman found form

Everton haven’t won at White Hart Lane in any of their last eight visits, losing five and drawing three but go back a little further and they have a competitive record; scoring on 13 of their last 19 visits.

Koeman has the Toffees playing like the Everton of old. It’s now just the solitary defeat in their last 11 Premier League matches and that was a 1-0 reverse in the Merseyside derby to a last gasp Sadio Mane goal.

The Dutchman’s signings have come up trumps. The combination of solidity at the back from Ashley Williams and a midfield of Morgan Schneiderlin, Idrissa Gueye and the youthful exuberance of Tom Davies has given Everton the ability to dominate most sides in the league.

Spurred On

In Tottenham, Everton face their biggest challenge since they hosted Manchester City in early January but that tie resulted in a 4-0 win.

Spurs have only been a bigger price at home this season than the 4/6 (Bet365) on offer on three occasions. Those were matches against Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea and they gained an extremely impressive seven points from those fixtures.

At first site, both teams to score looks the value bet at 9/11 with 188Bet but rather than back I’d prefer to be on a bigger price that supports the two supreme poachers on show.

Dynamic Duo

Kane and Lukaku are tied for top goal-scorer at the moment on 17 goals each. Having scored 34 goals in 52 games between them that suggests the likelihood of them both scoring is around 37% or 17/10 but we can back that at 11/2 with Skybet's Price Boost.

These two have a knack in front of goal. You would have to say that on 77 and 66 Premier League goals already for their age (both 23 years-old) of all the current players in England they represent the biggest threat to Alan Shearer’s record.

Tottenham have kept the most home clean sheets in the league (9) but they failed to keep one at Goodison Park on the opening day of the season and Everton represent a much more fluid attacking threat than the majority of their counterparts, so I'm leaving the Match Odds well alone.
