“Do I really care about the Europa League?”
That's a question that is bound to go through the mind of Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino over the next 24 hours or so.
Spurs take on Anderlecht in Group J and, with just two points separating the four teams in the group, it's a match which could well have a significant bearing on who reaches the knockout stages.
For Spurs – and many of their fans, I'd imagine – there is a much bigger picture.
On Sunday afternoon, Pochettino's men will do battle with north London rivals Arsenal in the Premier League.
That match will, surely, take priority for the men from White Hart Lane and, as a result, it would be no real surprise should a largely second-string Spurs line up against Anderlecht on Thursday night.
Spurs, though, will be looking to preserve their record of just one defeat on home soil this season, while it is worth noting that the Premier League side are unbeaten in their last six home matches in this competition.
Anderlecht beat Spurs last month and make the trip to north London hoping to claim their first ever away win against English opposition in European competition.
Given Spurs' supremacy at home, it's tough to make a compelling case for backing the visitors to record a famous victory when they make the trip to “The Lane”.
However, Spurs' dubious defensive record gives Anderlecht hope – and provides a decent betting angle too.
Both teams have scored in seven of Tottenham's last eight matches in all competitions and it's well worth taking a chance on that trend continuing in the Europa League.
