A stunning weekend last week for Marco Di Cosmo (@scioltz) and he has two more Saturday picks here.

Empoli v Roma | Saturday 17:00 | BT Sport Europe

The opening match of this Serie A weekend is between Roma and Empoli. This looks a tasty affair between one of the most surprising teams of the season and a renewed Roma under coach Luciano Spalletti.

We were rewarded for our belief in Roma last week against Palermo as the giallorossi absolutely dismantled the Sicilians in a clear win. This team is really a different animal since Luciano Spalletti took the job again and even the Francesco Totti affair did not seems to have upset momentum so far.

Playing against Empoli is not one of the easiest things in Serie A but there are a number of reasons that make me want to back Roma again here.

First of all, the home side play better away from home, where they have 19 points from 14 matches. Those figures put them as high as 6th place on the Away Table.

On their own ground Empoli are the fifth worst team in Italy and have been beaten five times in 12 matches and only recently by struggling Frosinone.

They will have some problems in their starting eleven too as they will miss their best player in Riccardo Sayonara who is suspended. On top of this they have a couple of important absences in their defensive line.

Roma arrive here on the back of five consecutive wins and they are on a hot streak. I am confident they can keep the momentum going and will travel to Empoli confident of a win.

AC Milan v Torino | Saturday 19:45 | BT Sport Europe

Sadly we had our fingers burnt by taking on Milan on Monday as the rossoneri held Napoli to a draw at the San Paolo. AC Milan played a really defensive game and were only interested in ruining Napoli’s offensive creativity.

I must say I was expecting more from the team. Their lack of any ideas with the ball at their feet was almost depressing compared to the old glorious days of this team, but somehow this was good enough to earn a draw for the rossoneri.

AC Milan are one of the candidates for third place in Serie A and come here with a strong record of 10 matches without defeat and have been good enough to compete with Inter, Fiorentina and Roma.

The giallorossi are my favourites for a Top 3 finish but I think AC Milan will finish close and they have a real opportunity to finish above their city rivals.

Saturday's match against Torino is not one of the hardest. The granata are safe from relegation and they have no chance of reaching the Europa League.

Their coach will probably leave Turin at the end of the season and the team is far less intriguing from what it was a year ago. Milan’s motivations should make the difference and if you factor in Torino’s horrific away record (just 12 points in 12 games) the rossoneri look a good bet.
