MARCO Di Cosmo (@scioltz) casts his eye over the Valentines Day Serie A fixtures for us.

AC Milan v Genoa | Sunday 11:30 | BT Sport Europe

AC Milan have clearly improved in recent times under Sinisa Mijalovic. They are unbeaten in their last eight matches having registered a significant contribution from Carlos Bacca, Mbaye Niang and Jack Bonaventura.

Their defense has been the key as well, with the Brazilian international Alex proving his quality and experience along with the youngster Alessio Romagnoli.

Genoa are having a difficult season so far. They will be safe from relegation but they've had better seasons as they just stand in 16th position at the moment.

AC Milan have just wasted a chance to cut their deficit to third place by drawing against Udinese but I cant'see them failing two in a row against a side who's been terrible away from home. It's Milan for me,

Sampdoria v Atalanta | Sunday 14:00 | BT Sport/ESPN

In their last Serie A home match Sampdoria were denied a win in injury time by a goal from the young Torino talent Andrea Belotti and it's been such an unlucky season for the Doriani as they struggling to impose their quality. They come into this weekend just five points ahead of Frosinone and the relegation zone.

The likes of Antonio Cassano, Luis Muriel, Roberto Soriano should have been enough to give them no relegation fears and even some hopes for a place in Europe but the reality has been different so far.

Their recent performances are not encouraging, having lost four of their last five games, but what is more interesting is that they have been the most challenging team to play against Juventus, having lost only by one goal and indeed many times almost equalised.

It was the same situation against Roma where in the final five minutes they wasted an enormous chance and also hit the woodwork a couple of seconds before the final whistle.

I think they will finally get some credit for their play, which has evidently been improving. Atalanta are not the good team they were in the first half of the season as they have sold a number of players and are not reaching the same defensive solidity they had before.
