Serie A Betting Preview & Tips: Goals forecast for San Siro showdown

OUR man in Italy, Marco Di Cosmo (@scioltz) returns to look at Wednesday's action from Serie A.

Cagliari vs Benevento | Wednesday 5th January 2021, 11:30 | Premier Sports

Benevento are showing some interesting performances this season. The last one was a 2-0 defeat against Milan, where they deserved more than what the result suggests.

Similar notes for Cagliari, which collected much less of what they expressed on the field this season. I want to take a home win for this match, and with both defences far from being reliable, I am backing the home side to score more than one goal. This happened in 3/4 of Cagliari's matches against medium-low teams.

Cagliari to score Over 1.5 Goals (11/10 Bet365)

Atalanta vs Parma | Wednesday 5th January 2021, 14:00 | LiveSport

Going with the classics here, and pretty confident Atalanta will win this match in style.

No much words are needed to praise Atalanta’s football anymore, and I think this match could end up Fabio Liverani’s job as a Parma coach.

With >70% of Atalanta’s games finishing with 3 goals or more, I am happy to back the Bergamaschi to win this with more than 2 goals in the game.

Atalanta to win and Over 2.5 Goals (4/6 SBK).

Sampdoria vs Inter Milan | Wednesday 5th January 2021, 14:00 | Premier Sports

Going with the 9th for Inter. After the resounding 6-2 victory against Crotone, the Neroazzurri will try to continue the chase to the first spot against Sampdoria.

The Blucerchiati shouldn’t be an obstacle: Claudio Ranieri is a well-experienced manager and I’m sure he will try to play a conservative match, but Inter have the best attack in Serie A with 40 goals scored.

Yes, Romelu Lukaku will be out but they have impressed with a rampant 3-0 victory against Sassuolo without him.  I will add a small line on the goals to get a higher price: Inter Milan to win and Over 1.5 Goals (4/5 Betway).

Crotone vs Roma | Wednesday 5th January 2021, 14:00 | Premier Sports

I am going to keep my record on track with AS Roma, who are showing a relentless run against medium-low teams. Their last win against Sampdoria showed their incredible consistency and nothing will change against Crotone, I reckon.

Plus, the home side loves to play a football game. They do not take a defensive-minded approach even against big teams, and Roma will have chances to win it in style with the quality of their attackers.

Roma to win and Over 1.5 Goals (10/11 Boylesports).

Milan vs Juventus | Wednesday 5th January 2021, 19:45 | Premier Sports

Lots of absentees for both teams in the big match, especially for AC Milan without Zlatan Ibrahimovic and key midfielders. I still do not see Juve as solid as they were in their best times and so AC Milan, who have scored more than 2 goals for 17 consecutive matches, should be able to score at least once.

On the other hand, Juventus offensive quality makes almost impossible for the Rossoneri to keep their door shut.

Backing Both Teams To Score (4/6 SBK) should be the safest option.
