Serie A Betting Preview & Tips: Goals forecast for capital contest

OUR man in Italy, Marco Di Cosmo (@scioltz) returns to look at Sunday's action from Serie A.

Torino vs Bologna | Sunday 20th December 2020, 11:30 | Premier Sports

Bologna are our favourite friends when backing goals in Serie A. With 24 goals conceded, they have the 4th worst Serie A defence, with a combined average of 3.5 goals in their games.

No wonder why I clearly expect goals here, as Torino are goal kings in this special table, with an average of 4.2.

Inter v Spezia | Sunday 20th December 2020, 14:00 | Premier Sports

I expect another win for inter to chase AC Milan at the first spot of the table. The Neroazzurri are simply too much for a poor Spezia side that conceded 25 goals in 12 games.

Back Inter to do the job in style.

Sassuolo v Milan | Sunday 20th December 2020, 14:00 | Premier Sports

This is supposed to be a fun match with AC Milan recently struggling after a stunning start of the season. They have gone 2-2 in their last 2 matches, showing some defensive weaknesses which I think will be exposed today as well.

The Rossoneri will have some heavy absentees, including their centre-back, and I am confident Sassuolo will be able to find the net in an entertaining match.

Atalanta v Roma | Sunday 20th December 2020, 17:30 | Premier Sports

Another big match in this Serie A day when Roma travel to Atalanta. I have a little preference for the visitors, as Alejandro Gomez – which is probably the main star for Atalanta – is officially ruled out for the game (and for the season).

Still, the Bergamaschi are able to expose any team, as Juve have just seen last week. So, I will be simply backing goals in Bergamo.

Lazio v Napoli | Sunday 20th December 2020, 19:45 | Premier Sports

Last Sunday, every Serie A match finished with more than 2 goals; I expect something similar today and I finish this day backing another goal galore at the Olimpico.

Gennaro Gattuso is improving his skills as head coach for Napoli, and he usually tends to be more conservative when facing big teams, that is why I stayed away from backing goals against Inter – and that match resulted in a very tight and sometimes boring affair.

But, I think he will try to be more aggressive against Lazio. Napoli only need a win here, and the hosts are far from their best form, plus they will be missing key central defender Francesco Acerbi and I am sure they will concede at least once.

Best Bets

Torino vs Bologna – Over 2.5 Goals (9/13 SBK)

Inter Milan vs Spezia – Inter Milan to win and Over 2.5 Goals (13/20 Betway)

Sassuolo vs Milan – Over 2.5 Goals (8/13 Betfair)

Atalanta vs Roma – Over 2.5 Goals (6/11 SBK)

Lazio vs Napoli – Over 2.5 Goals (1/1 SBK)
