Serie A: Angry Atalanta should punish Pescara

OUR man in Italy, Marco Di Cosmo (@scioltz) looks to continue his hot streak in Serie A with his best Sunday selections.

Empoli v Napoli | Sunday 11:30 | BT Sport Europe

Empoli are risking their sixth consecutive defeat in Serie A as they face Napoli on Sunday morning. Despite such horrible form they are still relatively confident of not being relegated, with a seven point cushion from Palermo.

I do not see them avoiding a loss today on Sunday however. Napoli, despite being a lunatic team in general, are proving to be the best away side in Serie A this season, doing even better than Juventus.

In four of their last five matches the Tuscanians have lost with more than one goal margin, so a handicap pick on Napoli could be an option here, especially given Empoli’s scoring form.

But instead I’d prefer backing Napoli to win and Over 2.5 goals as the partenopei can not be so reliable in keeping their goal unviolated this Sunday.

Atalanta v Pescara | Sunday 14:00

I expect Pescara will have difficultly avoiding a loss on Sunday when they face Atalanta. They will be furious after the seven goals they conceded against Inter. The neroazzurri have been consistent all season and their home form is even more solid, having lost only once in their last 10 games.

As we said since Zdenek Zeman took the job as Pescara’s head coach, the away side should be a banker in terms of goal and bookies have quickly cut their odds since he arrived on the scene.

So, given these two premises I will back Atalanta to confirm their home form against a side who are nowhere near as good as them. Plus I’ll add an Over 2.5 Goal bet on top of it to boost up the odds.

Cagliari v Lazio | Sunday 14:00

I will go for goals also between Cagliari and Lazio. The sardinians were a goal-banker for the first part of their season, where they kept a record of Over 2.5 goals for more than ten games.

Recently they have been a bit more conservative, especially away from home where they have not found the net on many occasions, often relying on a more defensive approach.

On the contrary, they have kept scoring freely at home where they have registered more than two goals in 11 of their 13 games. Lazio do enjoy a goal fest when travelling, having scored 12 in their last four games.

Their offensive fire-power is usually more consistent on those days while not being as solid as at the Olimpico. Back Over 2.5 Goals in the game.
