I wandered into unfamiliar territory a few weeks ago when I found myself talking up Dumbarton's impressive start to the season and singing the praises of the Sons.
In fact, I was so impressed, I put them up as my best bet of the weekend when they played host to Alloa Athletic. My reward? A dismal 2-0 home defeat. Cheers, Dumbarton!
So, this weekend, I'm going to stick to what feels right – backing against Stephen Aitken's side. I'm not just opposing the Sons for the hell of it, though. This weekend, Dumbarton face a tricky trip to Fife to take on Raith Rovers.
Rovers may have lost three of their last five matches, but given that those losses came against Hibs, Rangers and Celtic, you'll understand why I'm so willing to be forgiven.
Raith, too, have won all five of their competitive fixtures on home turf this season, with the only goal conceded during that run coming against Premiership side Hamilton Academical in the League Cup.
Crime writer Val McDermid is Raith Rovers' biggest fan – not only does she have a Stand named after her at Stark's Park, but she is also the Club's shirt sponsor!
However, even McDermid might struggle to solve the mystery of why the odds compilers are dangling an impossibly juicy even money quote in front of us for a home win this weekend.
Dumbarton's blistering start to the campaign – back-to-back league wins against Hibernian and St Mirren respectively- is merely a distant memory.
They have lost five of six matches since then, with the only respite coming in a forgettable goalless draw with Greenock Morton earlier this month.
I'll be expecting a sizeable Rovers return from the bookies this weekend when I put my faith in Raith. Raith Rovers to beat Dumbarton at even money is my best bet from Scotland this weekend.

ON the same page again Willie. I have backed them to Win To Nil @ 3.75. Almost had 3/1 byt PP pulled it the second I went to place it.
