In the last couple of weeks, I've been greedy. I have turned my nose up at solid 3/4 and even money winners and I have, if you'll pardon the pun, paid the price.
The moral of the story? Keep it simple – and what could be simpler than backing goals galore in the Dundee derby at Tannadice on Sunday afternoon?
Mixu Paatelainen's men come into this one fighting for their lives as they are eight points adrift of 11th-placed Kilmarnock and, while the situation is critical, United aren't quite dead yet.
The Terrors have found goals a little easier to come by in recent weeks, scoring in four of their last five matches and winning three of their last five games – although one of those victories came in the Scottish Cup.
Across the road at Dens, scoring goals seems to have become harder than ever, with Paul Hartley's men managing to net just once in their last five outings.
There will be chances to improve upon that record this weekend, though, for United have kept just two clean sheets in 17 matches on home turf this term.
This fixture, too, tends to be frenetic with mistakes aplenty and goals galore – indeed, just three of the last 17 meetings between these two teams has produced fewer than three goals, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in each of the last six league meetings between the teams.
Dundee will be divided on Sunday and the visitors would love nothing more than to plunge their bitter rivals deeper into the relegation mire with a win at Tannadice.
As a neutral, though, this is one of my favourite fixtures of the season and I'll be shouting for goals galore when these two teams lock horns again.
