TWO games left in the Scottish Premiership, who is Willie Duncan (@Willie_Duncan) backing this week?
St Mirren v Motherwell | Saturday 15:00
There's a great battle taking place at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership on Saturday. Sorry St Mirren have already gone, but Motherwell and Ross County have been slugging it out like two prizefighters in recent weeks as they desperately try to avoid a potentially tricky relegation play-off.
Jim McIntyre's men looked to have landed a TKO when they claimed a precious point against ‘Well at Fir Park a couple of weeks back, but this scrap has had more plot twists than a Rocky box set and Motherwell's impressive win over Kilmarnock last week aligned with County's surprise home defeat against St Mirren means that the Fir Park side have been thrown a massive lifeline.
The Steelmen do not have their fate in their own hands with two matches remaining, but I'll be backing Ian Baraclough's side to ensure that it goes to the wire with a win this weekend when they travel to Paisley to face the already relegated Saints.
Motherwell thrashed the Buddies 5-0 when the two sides met at Fir Park last month, and it's impossible to see how such a significant gulf in class can be bridged by Gary Teale's team this weekend.
Poor old St Mirren got ripped to shreds by Lee Erwin and Lionel Ainsworth when they visited Fir Park and with old heads John Sutton and Scott McDonald also likely to feature for the visitors this weekend, Ian Baraclough's men are far too big to ignore.
Motherwell are absolutely tremendous value at 6/5 to beat St Mirren this weekend and I'll be all over the Steelmen to provide the punch in Paisley on Saturday afternoon.
