WHO'LL take the first leg spoils in the Championship play-off match between Forfar and Alloa? Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) previewed the odds.

Forfar v Alloa | Wednesday 19:45 | BBC Alba

There's a place in next season's Scottish Championship up for grabs in this two leg affair and things get underway on Wednesday.

Forfar outclassed Stranraer in their semi-final with a 4-1 aggregate win but Alloa will definitely be a stiffer test. Dick Campbell's side finished third in League One this season and are looking to make the jump up to the second tier for the first time since the early-1990's.

They finished just three points behind champions Greenock Morton and ended the season with six wins out of eight. On top of this, six wins out of seven at Station Park bode well for this fixture.

But make no mistake Alloa will be tough. Forfar were knocked out the Scottish Cup by Championship side Cowdenbeath (Alloa finished above them) and the League Cup by Raith. Both times they've met second tier opposition they've struggled.

Despite only surviving (for now) on the last game of the season, Alloa have definitely improved under new coach Danny Lennon. The trophy-winning ex-St Mirren gaffer came in in early April and the Wasps have crushed Dumbarton and Cowdenbeath and got a draw against Queen Of The South in that time.

A reflection of Lennon's talents can be demonstrated by the mess St Mirren find themselves in after he left. The Buddies have been relegated from the Premiership and the heady days of them winning the League Cup under Lennon seem long gone.

While Forfar's home form simply must be respected, I'd be surprised if Alloa lose this first leg. Reading the quotes of Lennon, I think he feels the same – “The players have handled big games well since I came here and I'm sure they will handle things at Forfar”.

I'm getting with Alloa on the Draw No Bet market here at 6/5. I think their class might just tell and similar to their semi-final meeting with Brechin they'll want to be in a strong position going into the second leg.
