Scottish Football: Thistle fancied to progress, says Dino Vita

PRO PUNTER Dino Vita (@VitaDino) shares his Scottish NAP on Saturday. His latest selection arrives from the Challenge Cup.

Montrose v Partick | Saturday 7th September 2019, 15:00

The Challenge Cup takes centre stage this weekend as the league action takes a break for international football. My domestic interest arrives as Championship outfit Partick travel north to face League One strugglers Montrose.

Rock-bottom Partick should be further up the second-tier than they are. Thistle have led at half-time in their last three league games and ended up losing all three. Last weekend the Jags led 2-1 against Ayr before having two men sent off and losing 3-2.

Thistle have already knocked Premiership club Ross County in the League Cup and look good things at 27/25 (Marathon) to pick up another overdue triumph.

Montrose have had a bad start to the season and sit bottom of League One with one point from their opening five games having lost their last four encounters.

There could be a few changes in personal for both sides but it’s a great chance of silverware, especially for Championship teams like Partick so I expect the visitors to take the game serious and progress to the next round.
