Scottish Football: County can conquer in cup clash, says Dino Vita

My selection this weekend comes from the League Cup as Ross County travel south to face Championship side Partick. Ross have started the season in excellent form, winning five and drawing one of their opening six encounters.

County won their League Cup section with four triumphs, including a 2-1 victory at St Johnstone, and have followed that up with a 3-0 win over Hamilton and a very good 0-0 draw away at Hearts in a game they dominated last weekend in the Premiership.

Partick also won their League Cup section, with three wins and a draw but haven’t started the Championship season as well. A disappointing 1-1 draw with relegation favourites Alloa in the opening game was followed by a 2-1 loss at home to Dundee United last week.

County finished 28 points ahead of Thistle last season when winning the Championship, winning three and drawing one of their head-to-head clashes. Ross (11/8 SkyBet) will be full of confidence going into this game after their start to the season and will fancy their chances of progressing to the next round.
