RUSSIA meet Denmark in Copenhagen on Monday night in Group B. Daniel McCulloch (@DMcCulloch1984) shares his favourite fancies.

It was a bit of a nearly night for me on Saturday as I refrained from backing Alvaro Morata to score anytime but did go with a Spain victory and under 3.5 goals. Despite once again dominating and possession and chances – with expected goals suggesting they should have won the match by two – La Roja recorded their second draw of Euro 2020.
Despite this misfortune, I don’t think Spain have been the unluckiest side in the competition to date. That honour falls to Denmark (and that is before you consider the horrendous incident with Christian Eriksen).
In their opening fixture against Finland, The Danes had 22 shots to their opponents one and yet lost the match 1-0. They managed another 21 shots against Belgium but again lost by a single goal as their opponents managed to score twice from just six attempts.
All this being said, Denmark are still odds on to qualify. The expectation from the bookmakers is that they’ll beat Russia and Belgium will beat Finland and there will be three sides with three points in Group B. I can’t disagree with that logic but think there are a couple of alternatives to backing Denmark to win the game outright.
Denmark to win and over 1.5 goals is 11/10 with Betway. Given that the third group games tend to see most goals, I am happy to take this bet rather than 8/11 on Denmark to win.
Russia were perhaps unfortunate to concede three goals against Belgium but they have not impressed in either of their matches to date, despite the fact that both matches were at home. They’ve managed just 19 shots (four of which were on target) so far against Belgium and Finland and this game is taking place in Copenhagen, which will obviously be a tougher ask than playing in St Petersburg.
I couldn’t find any obvious player goals or cards bets so I supplement Denmark to win by backing the home side to win by more than one goal. That is available at 21/10 with Unibet. Luck evening itself out over three games is perhaps wishful thinking, but if The Danes create the volume of chances they have in their opening two fixtures in this competition, you’ve got to think we will be in the black come Monday night.
