The opening Old Firm clash of the season is one that is intriguing – as both teams odds on the outright and match markets have fluctuated in a volatile fashion from day one.

Both sides suffered early defeats in the league, and the two fell short for Champions League qualification. With team selections a big unknown at this stage, especially with COVID issues surrounding the hosts, mean I’m going to avoid the 1×2 market.

Instead, I feel confident that goals, cards and corners are worth supporting, in what should be a fantastic game. Ibrox will be packed with 100% of their own fans, so the Gers will be urged forward against their old rivals. The Hoops under Ange Postecoglou have showed real attacking intent, although doubts remain about the defence.

So with the Teddy Bears possibly having to play third-choice keeper, Robbie McCrorie, and with Celtic not looking watertight, Over 1.5 Goals doesn’t look a big ask.

With both side going for the win here, plenty of corners should be on the menu too:

  • The last eight head to heads have produced 14-9-15-8-6-18-12-13 corner totals.
  • Celtic have had 5-11-14 corners themselves in the league thus far.
  • Rangers have gained 7-8-11 flag kicks this season to date.

So to throw in Over 8.5 Corners to the Bet Builder is more than achievable, looking at all the numbers.

Kevin Clancy takes charge for this midday clash. In his previous Old Firm head-to-head, the whistler produced 7 yellow cards, and one red card, sending off Alfredo Morelos late on.

I’m confident the arbiter can produce at least 4 cards. Hence, the 5/4 that Bet Victor are offering on Over 1.5 Goals, Over 8.5 Corners and Over 3.5 Cards appearing a nice way into a game I believe could be very entertaining.
