New England Patriots @ New York Jets | Tuesday 10th November 2020, 01:15 | Sky Sports

I wasn’t able to get the time to write an article last week and my reward for that transgression is this match-up between New York and New England. Even as a Patriots fan it’s hard to get excited about this one, but let’s see if we can find some angles to attack.

At the time I’m writing this, it’s unclear whether Jets QB Sam Darnold will suit up for this one so I’m going to focus in on the Patriots offense instead, which has been pretty anaemic, save for Week 2 against the Seahawks, this season.

Cam Newton has been trying his hardest – with varying results – but New England simply doesn’t have much talent at the WR or TE positions to have a consistent passing game this year. Indeed, they started four undrafted players at WR against Buffalo last week. To that end, I think Newton’s completions line is a little high and I’ll be backing him to have Under 18.5 Completions, especially at even-money.

The only time that Newton has gone over that line was in the aforementioned game against Seattle, who have proven themselves to be a sieve when it comes to pass defence.

The Patriots themselves, I think, want to be more of a running team as that’s more of a strength. Damien Harris has been playing well since he came into the line-up and along with Newton himself, New England have the makings of a decent rushing attack.

Even against one of the worst teams in the league in the Jets, I don’t envision the Patriots lighting it up through the air. A heavy dose of Harris and Newton on the ground will likely be the order of the day.
