OUR resident NBA expert Ashfq Hussain (@Broke_No_Joke) returns and he’s got a corking bet for tonight’s basketball action to share.

New York Knicks @ Minnesota Timberwolves | Thursday 1.05

The Knicks suffered a tough defeat last night against the in-form Bucks but with tonight’s face-off against the Wolves, we have to ask ourselves, who wants it more?

We all know New York are a big name franchise in the NBA and they’re going through a transitional phase. New coach Derek Fisher isn’t giving up though and even when his boys get knocked down, he still pushes them to improve.

The loss of Jose Calderon and Andrea Bargnani won’t have helped but they face a Minnesota side without three regular starters, two of which are big misses.

Ricky Rubio is at the heart of everything the Wolves do and his vision is up there with the best of them. Nikola Pekovic is out with a sprained wrist and they’ll be without his physical strength and rebounding ability and Thaddeous Young is still on leave.

Despite their defeat, what impressed me about the Knicks last night was the amount of shots they pulled off. They should take that confidence into tonight against a side that’s conceded 256 points in the last two games, scoring just 208.

The Wolves have lost their last five games and there’s just too much experience in this Knicks team not to be with the visitors. If they can keep Carmelo Anthony’s knee in tact they should have enough to exploit Minnesota.
