NON-LEAGUE expert Paul Maddison (@LouthBigDog) shares his best bets from Saturday's action in the National League.
Barrow v Maidenhead | Saturday 28th September 2019, 15:00
After a slow start to the season, Barrow have picked up form in recent weeks winning their last four games on the bounce and scoring an impressive 11 goals in the process. That run has catapulted the Bluebirds into seventh, although they are only three points ahead of 17th-placed Hartlepool.
Maidenhead are just one point behind Barrow in ninth, however, the Magpies run has been the opposite of their opponents. Having started the season well, the Berkshire boys have nosedived dramatically in recent weeks. Alan Devonshire's men are winless in their last five and I think they will struggle here against a Barrow side full of confidence.
The home side look a great bet at 13/10 with Bet365.
Stockport v Torquay | Saturday 28th September 2019, 15:00
Last year’s winners of the National League North play host to the winners of the National League South in what I fancy to be an entertaining game at Edgeley Park.
Both teams have been struggling for form in recent weeks, especially Stockport who have conceded 11 times in their last four matches. Three of those games have come away from home though, and their home efforts has been stronger.
The Hatters have scored 10 in their last five matches on their own turf and should be confident of troubling a Torquay side who are yet to keep a clean sheet on their travels.
The Gulls six games on the road this season have seen an average of 3.20 goals per-game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in four of those ties. The Overs are odds-against here at 23/20 with BetVictor and that looks too good to ignore.
Dover v Halifax | Saturday 28th September 2019, 17:20 | BT Sport
The BT Sport cameras head to Crabble as fifth-placed Dover entertain second-placed Halifax.
Last season, Halifax averaged less than a goal a game, netting just 44 times in 46 matches. This term they are the leading scorers in the National League having scored 23 times in their opening 13 games.
Defensively though, the Shaymen haven't been as impressive as they were last term. The Yorkshire-based side haven't kept a clean sheet in any of their last 10 outings and are yet to keep a shutout on the road.
Opponents Dover have been much better when playing away, with six of their seven victories coming on their travels. All of the Whites home games have seen both teams score and I expect this trend to continue here. The pair look better going forward than they do defensively so hopefully that will lead to an open game.
William Hill are a standout 4/5 on Both Teams To Score, and that looks well worth an interest.
