Monday’s Bet Of The Day: Hatters are the talk of the town

JACK Wright's (@JackWright_BSB) Bet of the Day returns for Monday as we head to the the Championship.

Huddersfield vs Luton | Monday 11th April 2022, 19:45 | Sky Sports

If at the start of the season we were asked to guess which two sides sitting fourth and fifth would be the Monday night game live on Sky not too many of us would have picked out either Huddersfield or Luton – let alone both, but here we are and nothing probably screams “unpredictable Championship” more.

The battle for the Play-Off spots is as tight as ever and the Terriers would have been mightily relieved to pick up all three points in their last match, especially after back-to-back defeats and no win in four in all competitions – although a first half red card for Hull’s Tom Eaves certainly helped them over the line.

In contrast the Hatters were denied a precious win as a late Peterborough goal meant a share of the spoils for a second league game in succession.

Although still Nathan Jones admitted his side were “nowhere near their best” in the draw at Weston Homes Stadium, it still extended their unbeaten run to four games and meant they have now scored at least once in each of their last 11 competitive games, including the FA Cup tie with Chelsea.

A win here for the visitors would be a massive step towards securing a golden ticket for the chance to return to the Premier League via the play-offs, incredible for a club that dropped out of the EFL at the other end of the pyramid as recently as 2009 and I am surprised to see them big enough underdogs here for us to be able to get them onside with the added bonus of a little safety net.

Bet 365 offer odds of 17/20 for Luton 0.0,+0.5 (+0.25) on the Asian Handicap meaning we still make some profit even if this ends in a draw.

Having had a passion for football for as long as I can remember – I’m talking Shoot League Ladders here – one of my first “bets” is still my biggest win. After begging my mum to let me fill in her pools coupon so I could show off my knowledge, eight draws later and a cheque for £11,500 was soon in the post. As a Norwich fan it’s important to have a good grasp of what’s going on in the lower leagues and I also like exploring those less popular leagues to have a delve into any stats-based markets that are available. Right now, I’m particularly enjoying player bets. Outside of sport, I love eating and drinking - maybe a little too much - as well as listening to a varied spectrum of music, both from the comfort of my own home and at festivals.
