Monday’s Bet Of The Day: Glimt to get amongst the goals

JACK Wright's (@JackWright_BSB) Bet of the Day continues on Saturday as we head to the the Eliteserien.

Brann vs Bodo-Glimt | Monday 24th May 2021, 17:00

After selling several key players like top scorer Kasper Junker, following their destruction of the Eliteserien last season there were question marks surrounding the ability of how Bodo-Glimt could defend their title, but their response in the opening three games has been impressive.

Superlaget go in to this clash as one of the three unbeaten sides in the Norwegian top flight, winning their two opening fixtures before a draw against table toppers Rosenborg, and have the incentive of knowing they will reclaim top spot with a win at Brann Stadion with the two sides above them meeting in the later kick off.

As for Brann, their season could not have gotten off to a worse start, losing all four games so far and shipping 13 goals in total, conceding at least three goals in each fixture, form which understandably leaves them rock bottom.

The one side they would not pick to welcome in an attempt to end that run would be Kjetil Knutsen’s men who have scored at least 2 goals in 17 of their last 18 away league matches in 40 of their last 40 overall and in ten of the last sixteen encounters at this venue.

Fears the aforementioned Junker would be a big miss have been waylaid with replacement Erik Botheim firing a goal in each of his first three appearances for the champions and there seems to have been an adequate rebuild of the squad to remain more than competitive at the top end of the table.

Considering these stats, I expect the visitors to deliver another comfortable winning performance against Brann, a side which they swept aside 4-1 in their recent pre-season friendly clash and a similar scoreline to the 3-1 win here last season would not surprise me.

Having had a passion for football for as long as I can remember – I’m talking Shoot League Ladders here – one of my first “bets” is still my biggest win. After begging my mum to let me fill in her pools coupon so I could show off my knowledge, eight draws later and a cheque for £11,500 was soon in the post. As a Norwich fan it’s important to have a good grasp of what’s going on in the lower leagues and I also like exploring those less popular leagues to have a delve into any stats-based markets that are available. Right now, I’m particularly enjoying player bets. Outside of sport, I love eating and drinking - maybe a little too much - as well as listening to a varied spectrum of music, both from the comfort of my own home and at festivals.
