JACK Wright's (@JackWright_BSB) brilliant Bet of the Day continues on Monday as we head to Spain…

Almeria vs Espanyol | Monday 19th April 2021, 20:00

There’s a huge promotion battle in Segunda this Monday night as third place Almeria host league leaders Espanyol.

A win for the Pericos will move them five points clear at the top of the table but most importantly a massive 13 points clear of the pack, led by the home side, hunting one of those two automatic promotion spots.

The Rojiblancos have hit a poor run of form just at the wrong time, winning only one of their last five league games, losing the last two so the last side they would want to welcome to Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos is the league leaders who in contrast are in the best form of their impressive season.

Not only have Vicente Moreno’s side won their last five league games they have scored 16 goals in the process conceding just two, with a 2-2 draw with Mirandes preceding the run of victories that’s now six successive games crossing 2.5 goals.

The Budgerigars have won each of the last three games against Almeria, including in the reverse fixture this season in December with their 2-1 victory meaning that four of the last five Head to Heads has crossed the over 2.5 goals line.

Almeria top the La Liga 2 for most over 2.5 goals games this season both overall and in just home matches – Espanyol have had the third highest total.

I was expecting to see this game priced up at a shade of odds on so to see a price of 6/5 available with Paddy Power it had to be my Bet of the Day.

Having had a passion for football for as long as I can remember – I’m talking Shoot League Ladders here – one of my first “bets” is still my biggest win. After begging my mum to let me fill in her pools coupon so I could show off my knowledge, eight draws later and a cheque for £11,500 was soon in the post. As a Norwich fan it’s important to have a good grasp of what’s going on in the lower leagues and I also like exploring those less popular leagues to have a delve into any stats-based markets that are available. Right now, I’m particularly enjoying player bets. Outside of sport, I love eating and drinking - maybe a little too much - as well as listening to a varied spectrum of music, both from the comfort of my own home and at festivals.
