Midweek EFL Acca – Boro backed to continue Riverside dominance

BETTING industry expert Tommy Buckley (@tbuckleythinks) highlights his favourite midweek Football League fancies.

Leeds v Preston | Tuesday 18th September 2018, 19:45

Elland Road is likely to be a mighty test for most teams this season and I believe Leeds are a good, fair price to make Preston the latest to suffer in West Yorkshire.

Leeds have seven points from a possible nine so far at home and have generally been very good with their 3-1 win against Stoke an impressive, confident win.

On the flip side, Preston arrive with an away league record that reads W0-D0-L3 without scoring a goal, including two 2-0 defeats and a 1-0 reverse.

Preston did win at Leeds in the League Cup but that will count for nothing in this fixture, and at around 9/10 (Marathon) I feel the hosts are worth supporting to get back to winning ways.

Sheffield United v Birmingham | Tuesday 18th September 2018, 19:45

Losing 1-0 away at Bristol City would have hurt Sheffield United and they'll unquestionably be looking to bounce back at home against with three points against a struggling Birmingham side that can't seem to win games.

Sheffield United have won their last two home league games with a degree of quality and style; their 4-1 win over Aston Villa being a very dominant, confident victory and they'll totally believe they can do something similar to Birmingham.

The Blues have had a series of draws in recent weeks so they'll offer a threat but the Blades should have too much at home and around the 5/6 (93/100 Marathon) mark for the hosts, a home win looks decent.

Ipswich v Brentford | Tuesday 18th September 2018, 19:45

Ipswich have had a rough start to the season, sitting bottom after seven matches, and so the last thing they'll be wanting is the visit of a high-flying Brentford who are up in second.

The Bees have looked decent this season, losing only once along with four very good wins and scoring plenty of goals. Brentford are the third-highest scorers in the Championship with 14 goals which looks impressive against Ipswich's poor effort of only five goals scored.

Brentford have four wins, Ipswich have four defeats and a -6 goal difference – away matches in the Championship are never easy but Brentford are simply a much better side and are a very good price around 5/6 (22/25 Marathon) to get another big win.

I'd back the Bees at 4/6 so 5/6 looks decent.

Middlesbrough v Bolton | Wednesday 19th September 2018, 19:45

Tony Pulis is doing a solid enough job at Middlesbrough and the home fans should be particularly happy with Boro boasting a 100% winning record at the Riverside, without conceding in their three outings.

Bolton go to Middlesbrough with some good away results in the bag already but the Riverside is likely to be a fortress for the Teessiders this season and I just expect Pulis’ men to be too strong here.

Middlesbrough are fairly short around 4/9 (43/100 Marathon) so not one for the singles but it definitely looks solid and one to include in your accas.
