TWO more games from the third tier to enjoy tonight. We got Football League man Mark O’Haire (@MarkOHaire) to find the best bets.
Barnsley v Oldham Athletic | Monday 19.45
Both Barnsley and Oldham have struggled in recent weeks and Monday’s meeting looks a tough game to call. The bookies appear to agree with Oldham rated slight 17/10 favourites ahead of their hosts at 15/8.
But the Latics head across the Pennines on the back of three successive defeats, leaking 13 goals in the process, making them a no bet. It’s now one win in seven for Lee Johnson’s visitors and they’ve only bagged two away wins this term.
Barnsley don’t fare much better. It’s just one victory and four losses from their past six League One encounters and Sam Winnall’s injury and absence means the Tykes are difficult to trust. The South Yorkshire side have also lost five of their 11 games at Oakwell this season.
Instead, taking the 3/4 from BetVictor on Both Teams To Score could prove profitable. It’s been a winning selection in 8/11 of Barnsley’s home matches and in 15/22 league games overall this season. The Tykes have kept just four clean sheets in those 22 outings as well as netting in 18.
Oldham are also proving a handy side to follow in the goals markets with 13/22 League One matches returning profit in the Both Teams To Score column as well as in 21/39 (54%) of games since Johnson took charge of the Latics.
Yeovil Town v Leyton Orient | Monday 19.45
Having studied this game for hours on end I just can’t find an angle I’m happy with. Yeovil have lost four on the bounce at home and failed to score in over half of their games at Huish Park this season.
Orient’s disrupted season and managerial changes has made second-guessing the Londoners a tough job but with a number of first-team players missing, it’s a fixture I’m happy to run away from and watch on as a neutral.
