La Liga: Expect late drama between leading two on Sunday night

LA LIGA boff Callum Read (@callumread) is back to attack the Spanish top-flight with two selections from Sunday's card.

Celta Vigo v Alaves | Sunday 15:15 | Sky Sports 3

If you’ve been a regular reader of my La Liga tips you can probably guess what I’m tipping for this fixture. If you haven’t – it’s Iago Aspas anytime (7/5 888). I’m sorry – I just can’t help myself.

The Celta Vigo striker found the net for the 11th time this season in Celta Vigo’s 3-1 win over Malaga last weekend. His tally in all competitions currently stands at 14 goals – an incredible tally for someone who was deemed not good enough for Liverpool.

Alaves have a made a name for their defensive outlook this season. El Glorioso have conceded just 17 times – the third fewest in the division and it probably goes someway to explaining the seven draws they’ve had.

Celta however, are the compete opposite and have scored 28 goals in 17 games, while at home the figure stands at 18 goals in nine games. They have one of the most cohesive attacking units in La Liga and when they are on song, they’re a joy to watch.

Pablo Hernandez and Daniel Wass have been in fine form in recent weeks and we may also see Fabien Orellana return to the Celta starting XI should he pass a fitness test.

However, lets talk amount the man of the moment, Iago Aspas. Celta have scored seven goals in their last two wins, more importantly – Aspas was able to rest during the midweek Copa del Rey fixture so will be fighting fit going into this game.

He’s currently averaging 2.4 shots per-game and I’m one again happy to back him anytime at odds of 7/5 with 888.

Sevilla v Real Madrid | Sunday 19:45 | Sky Sports 2

The two sides played out an entertaining 3-3 draw in Thursday’s Copa del Rey tie, a result that meant Real Madrid set a new Spanish record as they went 40 games unbeaten in domestic competitions.

I love everything about Sevilla this season and it’s hard to find someone who doesn’t agree with that statement. They’re making a real title push this season and currently sit second place in the table – a win this weekend would see them go just one point behind leaders Madrid.

A key factor in their success has been making the Sanchez Pizjuan a fortress, a place where they’ve won seven of their eight games, scoring 19 goals in the process.

This game is massive for both sides and could well be settled by one goal. It’s going to be tense and nervy with neither manager wanting to lose this weekend. That’s why I’m stepping into the ‘Time Of The Last Goal’ market.

Real Madrid needed goals in the 83rd and 93rd minute to draw against Sevilla in the Copa del Rey on Thursday. In December they overcame Depor thanks to goals in the 84th and 92nd minute whilst in the Clasico, Zidane’s side scored in the 90th minute.

A growing trend this season has been Real Madrid scoring late goals in important games – at odds of 11/5 I’m happy to take the last goal to come between 81st minute and full-time with Winner.

Best Bets

Celta Vigo v Alaves – Iago Aspas to score at anytime (7/5 888)

Sevilla v Real Madrid – Last goal to be scored between 81-full-time (11/5 Winner)
